Il Submersible è un sottomarino monoposto della classe Boats. Il suo corpo compatto presenta una finestra di osservazione anteriore arrotondata, tubi metallici protettivi, luci montate frontalmente, pontoni di zavorra sotto la cabina e serbatoi e tubazioni lungo i lati. Un'elica posteriore lo aziona tramite un motore elettrico, mentre timoni verticali sopra e sotto l'elica ne controllano il movimento nell'acqua. Le versioni potenziate aggiungono fasce verde lime e ulteriori lampade laterali.

Progettato per i viaggi sott'acqua anziché per la velocità, il Submersible può scendere fino a circa 150 metri prima che inizino gli avvisi di pressione. A profondità maggiori, lo scafo subisce danni, e il viaggio prolungato oltre circa 168 metri termina con l'implosione del mezzo. Può rimanere immerso per circa 24 ore di gioco prima di esaurire l'ossigeno. Se lasciato senza pilota, va alla deriva con il mare. Uscirne equipaggia inoltre l'occupante con una Scuba Suit.

In Grand Theft Auto V, un Submersible appare al Sonar Collections Dock dopo il suo acquisto, dove viene usato per raccogliere barili di scorie nucleari. Trevor ne ruba uno da una nave in Minisub, poi lo usa per cercare nell'acqua in entrambe le versioni di The Merryweather Heist. Un altro appare vicino alla torre dell'acqua al Sandy Shores Airfield dopo l'approccio Offshore. In Grand Theft Auto Online, può apparire al Sonar Collections Dock, vicino a Humane Labs and Research, alla Marina oppure al Los Santos Naval Port su Elysian Island.

Curiosità

◆Exiting the Submersible while it is submerged will cause the vessel to rise to the surface, requiring the player to swim up to it to re-board (changed by patch from previous behavior, where exiting the sub underwater made it unusable).
◆In the original versions of the game, the Submersible lacks a radio.
◆Cinematic view cannot be used while in a Submersible.
◆At the top of the tail and on the sides (near the front) of the Submersible, "4R53" is written as some form of identification number. This can be Leet translated to "ARSE". The same is seen on the Kraken.
◆Although there is no interior dials listed in the files, the gauges are just variations of dials found in basic aircraft. The same applies to the Kraken.
◆The Submersible the player acquires in The Merryweather Heist is much more durable than normal and is able to go to the lowest point allowed in the ocean, around 0.15 miles.
◆If the player has the invincibility cheat activated when reaching the "crush depth", it will be deactivated. Attempts to activate the cheat again when this happens will be met with a message stating that they cannot enter the cheat at this time.
