About this vehicle

The Submersible is a one-person submarine in the Boats class. Its compact body has a rounded forward viewing window, protective metal tubing, front-mounted lights, ballast pontoons beneath the cabin, and tanks and pipework along its sides. A propeller at the rear drives it with an electric motor, while vertical rudders above and below the propeller control its movement through the water. Enhanced versions add lime-green bands and extra side lamps.

Built for underwater travel rather than speed, the Submersible can descend to about 150 metres before pressure warnings begin. At greater depths its hull takes damage, and sustained travel beyond roughly 168 metres ends with the vessel imploding. It can remain submerged for about 24 in-game hours before its oxygen is exhausted. When left unmanned, it drifts with the sea. Leaving it also equips its occupant with a Scuba Suit.

In Grand Theft Auto V, a Submersible appears at the Sonar Collections Dock after its purchase, where it is used to collect nuclear waste barrels. Trevor steals one from a ship in Minisub, then uses it to search the water during both versions of The Merryweather Heist. Another spawns by the water tower at Sandy Shores Airfield after the Offshore approach. In Grand Theft Auto Online, it may appear at Sonar Collections Dock, near Humane Labs and Research, at the Marina, or at Los Santos Naval Port on Elysian Island.

Trivia

◆Exiting the Submersible while it is submerged will cause the vessel to rise to the surface, requiring the player to swim up to it to re-board (changed by patch from previous behavior, where exiting the sub underwater made it unusable).
◆In the original versions of the game, the Submersible lacks a radio.
◆Cinematic view cannot be used while in a Submersible.
◆At the top of the tail and on the sides (near the front) of the Submersible, "4R53" is written as some form of identification number. This can be Leet translated to "ARSE". The same is seen on the Kraken.
◆Although there is no interior dials listed in the files, the gauges are just variations of dials found in basic aircraft. The same applies to the Kraken.
◆The Submersible the player acquires in The Merryweather Heist is much more durable than normal and is able to go to the lowest point allowed in the ocean, around 0.15 miles.
◆If the player has the invincibility cheat activated when reaching the "crush depth", it will be deactivated. Attempts to activate the cheat again when this happens will be met with a message stating that they cannot enter the cheat at this time.
