L'Assault SMG è un'arma di difesa personale completamente automatica della classe Machine Guns, prodotta da Vom Feuer. Il suo modello si basa sul Magpul PDR, privo dell'impugnatura ergonomica anteriore di quell'arma, e presenta una maniglia di trasporto integrata sopra una corta slitta superiore. Utilizza munizioni Cal 5.7×28mm o STI ACB 6×30mm e contiene 40 colpi per caricatore. Il silenziatore non è montato di serie, ma può essere aggiunto tramite il sistema di accessori.
In Grand Theft Auto V, l'Assault SMG è disponibile da Ammu-Nation per $6,725 come arma bonus di Rockstar Games Social Club. In Grand Theft Auto Online, diventa disponibile da Ammu-Nation al Rank 29. Gli Assault SMGs possono anche essere sottratti a determinati NPC nemici durante la Business Supplies Steal Mission, "Colombian Flake", e uno si trova su una scrivania al livello B1 del Nightclub di un giocatore.
Il suo valore di danno è 22, con una cadenza di fuoco di 55, precisione di 40 e gittata di 35. Ha gittata e precisione paragonabili alla Micro SMG e alla SMG, infliggendo però danni leggermente maggiori a fronte di una cadenza di fuoco più lenta. Il danno non diminuisce con la distanza, rendendola utile contro i rotori di coda degli elicotteri vicino alla gittata massima. La maggior parte dei fucili d'assalto e delle mitragliatrici la supera a distanza ravvicinata e media, e non può essere usata per le sparatorie dai veicoli.
Curiosità
- ◆In real life, the FN P90 uses the FN 5.7×28mm cartridge, while the Magpul PDR uses the 5.56×45mm NATO one. However, in both games, the Assault SMG shares its ammunition with other SMGs for the sake of gameplay convenience.
- ◆Also, the Assault SMG in The Ballad of Gay Tony has etchings on the sighting component that reads "P90 Cal 5.7×28", while the one in GTA V has marking on the front section that reads "STI ACB 6×30mm", which is a fictional cartridge.
- ◆The HUD icon in the Xbox 360/PS3 versions of the game shows the Assault SMG with a magazine. Oddly, the HUD icon in the enhanced version has the magazine missing.
- ◆There is a beta render of the Assault SMG that exists in the game files. This model was apparently based on the FN P90 like The Ballad of Gay Tony iteration, but was altered with a bullpup configuration similar to that of the FN F2000, with the overhead area replaced by a shell ejector. The top of the receiver was a bit smaller, as the P90-style cartridge was absent. Its textures were also unfinished, possibly scrapped early during development in favour of the current model.
