Arthur encontra Jamie entre os Chelonians em Cumberland Forest, onde os membros da ordem se fecham ao redor dele quando Arthur pede para falar com o rapaz. Jamie se surpreende ao vê-lo, mas diz que escolheu seu caminho. O Chelonian Master se aproxima e afirma que Jamie encontrou segurança ali. Arthur explica que Mary está preocupada com o irmão e responde ao questionamento do Mestre sobre o próprio caminho. Se o Mestre impede a conversa, Arthur resolve a situação ao deixá-lo inconsciente.
Jamie ainda recusa o pedido de Arthur e corre até seu cavalo. Arthur o persegue por Cumberland Forest enquanto Jamie foge, até que ele cai e os dois ficam separados por um trem em movimento. Arthur manda Jamie parar. Quando o trem passa, Jamie aponta o revólver para si mesmo e tenta se matar. Arthur saca a arma e atira no revólver de Jamie antes que ele consiga apertar o gatilho.
Depois de ser salvo, Jamie admite que cometeu um erro. Arthur o coloca no cavalo e segue com ele por New Hanover até Valentine. Mary espera pelo irmão em Valentine Station. Arthur leva Jamie até ela, e os dois se encontram dentro da estação.

Curiosidades
- ◆If the player shoots at one of the Chelonians, when Jamie flees, they will panic that one of their members has been slain and will jump off the cliff. However, this will lead to failing the mission.
- ◆Shooting at the cult members will also lower the player's honor.
- ◆After the player has saved Jamie, they can ride to Carmody Dell and visit Bob Crawford, who will comment on the events of the mission, "The Spines of America".
- ◆If the player attempts to choke the Chelonian Master with a knife equipped, the game will softlock in the cutscene as Arthur cannot complete the action.
- ◆Despite choking the Chelonian Master, the game still registers him as knocked out. This can not happen in normal gameplay.
- ◆When disarming Jamie, if the player has a Sawed-Off Shotgun as their sidearm, they will unwillingly kill Jamie and the mission will fail.
- ◆When riding into Valentine with Jamie, if the player strikes a pedestrian enough to make them hostile, Jamie will casually pull out his pistol and shoot the pedestrian dead. This will result in the player being wanted for murder, but if the player enters the cutscene in the train station, the wanted status will clear by the end of it, though lawmen can be seen running outside the building and peering through windows with guns drawn during the cutscene.
- ◆It is possible to duplicate any horse during this mission. To do so, start the mission with the horse you would like to duplicate. After you have Jamie on the back of your horse, wreck so that you and Jamie get dumped off. Immediately get back on the horse and ride off a ways, leaving Jamie behind. You can also just get off your horse, and when Jamie dismounts, get on and leave him behind. Jamie will catch up to you riding a duplicate of your horse. Before the mission ends, bond with the duplicate and make it your secondary horse.
