Arthur trouve Jamie parmi les Chelonians dans Cumberland Forest, où l'ordre se resserre autour de lui tandis qu'Arthur demande à lui parler. Jamie est surpris par l'arrivée d'Arthur, mais affirme avoir choisi sa voie. Le Chelonian Master s'avance et insiste sur le fait que Jamie a trouvé la sécurité auprès d'eux. Arthur lui dit que Mary s'inquiète pour son frère, puis répond à la question du Master concernant sa propre voie. Si le Master refuse de lui donner accès à Jamie, Arthur force la situation en l'assommant.
Jamie rejette toujours l'appel d'Arthur et court vers son cheval. Arthur le poursuit à travers Cumberland Forest tandis que Jamie s'éloigne à cheval, avant de chuter et de se retrouver de l'autre côté d'un train qui passe. Arthur lui crie de s'arrêter. Une fois le train passé, Jamie sort son revolver et tente de se suicider. Arthur dégaine et tire l'arme de la main de Jamie avant qu'il puisse appuyer sur la détente.
Jamie accepte d'avoir commis une erreur après qu'Arthur l'a sauvé. Arthur le met sur le cheval et chevauche avec lui à travers New Hanover jusqu'à Valentine. À Valentine Station, Mary attend son frère. Arthur lui ramène Jamie et les deux se retrouvent à l'intérieur de la gare.

Anecdotes
- ◆If the player shoots at one of the Chelonians, when Jamie flees, they will panic that one of their members has been slain and will jump off the cliff. However, this will lead to failing the mission.
- ◆Shooting at the cult members will also lower the player's honor.
- ◆After the player has saved Jamie, they can ride to Carmody Dell and visit Bob Crawford, who will comment on the events of the mission, "The Spines of America".
- ◆If the player attempts to choke the Chelonian Master with a knife equipped, the game will softlock in the cutscene as Arthur cannot complete the action.
- ◆Despite choking the Chelonian Master, the game still registers him as knocked out. This can not happen in normal gameplay.
- ◆When disarming Jamie, if the player has a Sawed-Off Shotgun as their sidearm, they will unwillingly kill Jamie and the mission will fail.
- ◆When riding into Valentine with Jamie, if the player strikes a pedestrian enough to make them hostile, Jamie will casually pull out his pistol and shoot the pedestrian dead. This will result in the player being wanted for murder, but if the player enters the cutscene in the train station, the wanted status will clear by the end of it, though lawmen can be seen running outside the building and peering through windows with guns drawn during the cutscene.
- ◆It is possible to duplicate any horse during this mission. To do so, start the mission with the horse you would like to duplicate. After you have Jamie on the back of your horse, wreck so that you and Jamie get dumped off. Immediately get back on the horse and ride off a ways, leaving Jamie behind. You can also just get off your horse, and when Jamie dismounts, get on and leave him behind. Jamie will catch up to you riding a duplicate of your horse. Before the mission ends, bond with the duplicate and make it your secondary horse.
