Em Horseshoe Overlook, Susan Grimshaw avisa Arthur Morgan que Mary Linton lhe mandou uma carta de Valentine. Uma das mulheres do acampamento a recolheu depois que Mary a reconheceu como integrante da gangue e descobriu que eles estavam perto da cidade. Arthur se espanta ao saber que Mary ainda quer falar com ele. Ele leva a carta para sua barraca, lê o que ela escreveu e permanece pensativo antes de seguir para Chadwick Farm.
Arthur chega à fazenda perto de Valentine e bate à porta. Uma mulher mais velha atende apontando uma arma para ele. Quando Arthur explica que veio procurar Mary, ela entra para avisá-la. Mary encontra Arthur do lado de fora, e o reencontro entre os dois carrega o peso dos anos que passaram separados. Ela pede que ele ajude seu irmão Jamie, que se juntou aos Chelonians em Cumberland Forest.
Mary teme que os Chelonians tenham levado Jamie a uma situação perigosa e possam acabar matando-o. Arthur ouve o pedido dela, apesar de tudo o que existe entre os dois. Ele pode aceitar procurar Jamie ou recusar Mary e deixá-la em Chadwick Farm. O encontro termina em Valentine.
Curiosidades
- ◆If Arthur has not completed "Money Lending and Other Sins III" before this mission, an alternate cutscene will play out where Leopold Strauss pleads to Arthur to collect the debts from Thomas Downes. This will force "Money Lending and Other Sins III" to start immediately. However, there is a way to start it without completing Leopold's mission, where one must complete other missions, complete "Money Lending and Other Sins II" last, then examine the letter, which will trigger the mission icon.
- ◆When Arthur visits Mary in Valentine, there are two bits of foreshadowing quotes that Arthur will remember in "A Fork in the Road" depending on his Honor. The first is when he is reluctant to listen to her story and she says, "Don't make me beg you, Arthur" (if his Honor is low); and the second is when she asks him to find her brother, saying, "I understand if you don't wanna help me, but... but... I think of you often" (if Arthur's Honor is high).
- ◆There is a slight difference in cutscenes, where it depends on whether Arthur is wearing a hat or not. If he is, he will take it off and hold it and puts it back on after the meeting. If he is not, it will not affect anything else.
- ◆If the player doesn't make a choice and the timer runs out, Mary will angrily storm inside saying Arthur hasn't changed much. This will lock the player out of the third part of the mission.
