En Horseshoe Overlook, Susan Grimshaw le comunica a Arthur Morgan que Mary Linton le ha enviado una carta desde Valentine. Una de las mujeres del campamento la recogió después de que Mary la reconociera como miembro de la banda y supiera que estaban cerca del pueblo. Arthur se sorprende de que Mary siga queriendo ponerse en contacto con él. Lleva la carta a su tienda, la lee y queda absorto antes de partir hacia Chadwick Farm.
Arthur llega a la granja, cerca de Valentine, y llama a la puerta. Una mujer mayor abre apuntándole con un arma. Cuando Arthur explica que busca a Mary, ella entra para avisarla. Mary se reúne con Arthur fuera de la casa, y los años que llevan separados pesan sobre su conversación. Ella le pide ayuda para encontrar a su hermano Jamie, que se ha unido a los Chelonians en Cumberland Forest.
Mary teme que los Chelonians hayan arrastrado a Jamie a algo peligroso y que puedan acabar con su vida. Arthur escucha su petición pese a la historia que comparten. Puede aceptar buscar a Jamie o negarse y dejar a Mary en Chadwick Farm. El encuentro termina en Valentine.
Curiosidades
- ◆If Arthur has not completed "Money Lending and Other Sins III" before this mission, an alternate cutscene will play out where Leopold Strauss pleads to Arthur to collect the debts from Thomas Downes. This will force "Money Lending and Other Sins III" to start immediately. However, there is a way to start it without completing Leopold's mission, where one must complete other missions, complete "Money Lending and Other Sins II" last, then examine the letter, which will trigger the mission icon.
- ◆When Arthur visits Mary in Valentine, there are two bits of foreshadowing quotes that Arthur will remember in "A Fork in the Road" depending on his Honor. The first is when he is reluctant to listen to her story and she says, "Don't make me beg you, Arthur" (if his Honor is low); and the second is when she asks him to find her brother, saying, "I understand if you don't wanna help me, but... but... I think of you often" (if Arthur's Honor is high).
- ◆There is a slight difference in cutscenes, where it depends on whether Arthur is wearing a hat or not. If he is, he will take it off and hold it and puts it back on after the meeting. If he is not, it will not affect anything else.
- ◆If the player doesn't make a choice and the timer runs out, Mary will angrily storm inside saying Arthur hasn't changed much. This will lock the player out of the third part of the mission.
