A Horseshoe Overlook, Susan Grimshaw dice ad Arthur Morgan che Mary Linton gli ha mandato una lettera da Valentine. Una delle donne dell'accampamento l'ha raccolta, essendo stata riconosciuta da Mary, che ha scoperto che la banda si trovava nei pressi della città. Arthur è sorpreso che Mary lo abbia contattato dopo così tanto tempo. Porta la lettera nella sua tenda, la legge e resta immerso nei suoi pensieri prima di lasciare l'accampamento diretto a Chadwick Farm.
Arthur raggiunge la fattoria vicino a Valentine e bussa alla porta. Una donna anziana risponde puntandogli contro una pistola. Quando Arthur spiega di essere venuto per Mary, lei entra per avvisarla. Mary incontra Arthur fuori e il loro ricongiungimento è teso per via degli anni trascorsi dalla loro separazione. Gli chiede di aiutare suo fratello Jamie, che si è addentrato in Cumberland Forest con i Chelonians.
Mary teme che i Chelonians abbiano trascinato Jamie in qualcosa di pericoloso e che possano farlo uccidere. Arthur la ascolta mentre gli chiede aiuto nonostante il loro passato. Può accettare di cercare Jamie oppure rifiutare Mary e lasciarla a Chadwick Farm. L'incontro si conclude a Valentine.
Curiosità
- ◆If Arthur has not completed "Money Lending and Other Sins III" before this mission, an alternate cutscene will play out where Leopold Strauss pleads to Arthur to collect the debts from Thomas Downes. This will force "Money Lending and Other Sins III" to start immediately. However, there is a way to start it without completing Leopold's mission, where one must complete other missions, complete "Money Lending and Other Sins II" last, then examine the letter, which will trigger the mission icon.
- ◆When Arthur visits Mary in Valentine, there are two bits of foreshadowing quotes that Arthur will remember in "A Fork in the Road" depending on his Honor. The first is when he is reluctant to listen to her story and she says, "Don't make me beg you, Arthur" (if his Honor is low); and the second is when she asks him to find her brother, saying, "I understand if you don't wanna help me, but... but... I think of you often" (if Arthur's Honor is high).
- ◆There is a slight difference in cutscenes, where it depends on whether Arthur is wearing a hat or not. If he is, he will take it off and hold it and puts it back on after the meeting. If he is not, it will not affect anything else.
- ◆If the player doesn't make a choice and the timer runs out, Mary will angrily storm inside saying Arthur hasn't changed much. This will lock the player out of the third part of the mission.
