A Rolling Block Rifle é um rifle de precisão com mira, feito para tiros distantes. Seu modelo Litchfield Rolling Block é voltado à caça de animais grandes e ao combate de longo alcance, com miras telescópicas de diferentes ampliações. Ela comporta um cartucho por vez, usa Rifle Ammo e permite carregar até 120 projéteis. Aceita munição de rifle Regular, High Velocity, Split Point, Express e Explosive.
Arthur recebe o rifle gratuitamente do armeiro de Valentine durante "The Sheep and the Goats". Depois de "Pouring Forth Oil", no Capítulo 2, ele passa a ser vendido por armeiros por $187. Em Red Dead Online, fica disponível nos armeiros ao alcançar o Rank 13. Também pode ser encomendado pelo Handheld Catalog e retirado no cavalo, em um Post Office ou no Camp.
O rifle tem dano e alcance muito altos, ficando entre as armas mais fortes para atingir um alvo isolado a grande distância. A mira permite atacar de longe e acertar antes que o alvo perceba a ameaça. Em troca, dispara e recarrega lentamente em comparação com outras armas da classe, pois cada tiro precisa ser carregado separadamente.
Curiosidades
- ◆The weapon is based on the Remington Rolling Block rifle. Specifically the No.1 Sporting, as evidenced by the energy delivered by its ammunition, and the shortened forend with the lack of a bayonet lug.
- ◆The HUD icon of the Rolling Block Rifle is incorrectly depicted in the game, as the stock is lower positioned and the scope more positioned on the back than aligned with the start of the barrel as shown in the game.
- ◆The Rolling Block Rifle is one of two guns which players are forced to look through a scope when aiming in regardless of which camera mode they're using, with the other gun being the Carcano rifle. Combined with its low rate of fire, this rifle has very limited usefulness during a close range firefight.
- ◆With the use of a glitch, the player can completely bypass this restriction by removing the scope from the rifle. The scopeless rolling block rifle is fully functional in first and third person, and thus can be used like a more powerful Springfield rifle. However, they cannot auto-aim due to the gun not being intended to be used this way. This also renders the gun's catalog description ironic, which mocks those who fight at close range.
