في Benedict Point، يخبر Irish جون Marston بأن عمال المناجم في Gaptooth Breach عثروا على Gatling Gun. هناك حاجة إلى السلاح للهجوم المخطط له على Fort Mercer، لذا يمتطي جون برفقة Irish إلى المنجم. يغني Irish أغنية "Lily of the West" في الطريق. عند المدخل، يواجههما عمال مناجم على ظهور الخيل، فيقتلهم جون قبل أن يتابع نزولاً عبر الدرب نحو المدخل.
يقاتل جون عمال المناجم خارج Gaptooth Breach ويدخل الأنفاق. يحتل مزيد من الرجال المسلحين الممرات خلف المدخل، مستخدمين الصناديق والمتفجرات كغطاء. يشق جون طريقاً عبر المنجم حتى يصل إلى عربة السكك الحديدية التي تحمل Gatling Gun. ينضم إليه Irish هناك، ويطلقان معاً العربة المحملة على المسارات تحت الأرض.
تصل العربة إلى مصعد، يستخدمه Irish لرفع جون وGatling Gun إلى السطح. يدفع جون العربة قدماً بينما يدافع عنها من عمال المناجم الذين يهاجمون على امتداد السكك. يعترض رجل يدعى Digby Haskins الطريق إلى أن يفجر جون متفجرات بالقرب منه. بعد القضاء على المهاجمين الباقين، ينقل جون السلاح إلى عربة Irish المنتظرة. يحمل Irish السلاح عليها ويقود العربة بعيداً عن Gaptooth Breach لتسليمه إلى Nigel West Dickens.

- ◆Irish can be heard singing a song titled "Lily of the West" while traveling to the mine. While the most well known version became popular in the United States by parlor singers and ballad-printers, this song originates from the west of Ireland; in the U.S. version, the woman's name is Mary, while her original Irish name is Flora.
- ◆The name of this mission, like many others, is a Biblical reference, in this case Job 5:7 (KJV): "Yet man is born unto trouble; as the sparks fly upwards."
- ◆If the player follows Irish after the end of the mission, they can see the box with the Gatling Gun in it has disappeared, Irish is driving an empty cart.
- ◆Irish may fall off the cliff and die when he tells the player to meet him at the bottom of the hill but the player will not fail the mission.
