En Benedict Point, Irish le cuenta a John Marston que unos mineros de Gaptooth Breach han encontrado una Gatling Gun. El arma hace falta para el asalto previsto contra Fort Mercer, así que John cabalga con Irish hasta la mina. Durante el viaje, Irish canta "Lily of the West". Al llegar, unos mineros a caballo les salen al paso. John los mata y baja por el sendero hacia la entrada.
John acaba con los mineros apostados fuera de Gaptooth Breach y se interna en los túneles. Otros hombres armados ocupan los pasadizos tras la entrada, parapetados entre cajas y explosivos. John se abre camino por la mina hasta llegar al carrito de raíles que transporta la Gatling Gun. Irish se reúne con él, y ambos ponen en marcha el carrito cargado por las vías subterráneas.
El carrito alcanza un elevador, que Irish utiliza para subir a John y la Gatling Gun a la superficie. John sigue empujándolo mientras se defiende de los mineros que atacan junto a las vías. Digby Haskins bloquea el paso hasta que John hace estallar explosivos cerca de él. Tras acabar con los demás atacantes, John lleva el arma hasta el carro de Irish. Irish la carga y sale de Gaptooth Breach para entregársela a Nigel West Dickens.

Curiosidades
- ◆Irish can be heard singing a song titled "Lily of the West" while traveling to the mine. While the most well known version became popular in the United States by parlor singers and ballad-printers, this song originates from the west of Ireland; in the U.S. version, the woman's name is Mary, while her original Irish name is Flora.
- ◆The name of this mission, like many others, is a Biblical reference, in this case Job 5:7 (KJV): "Yet man is born unto trouble; as the sparks fly upwards."
- ◆If the player follows Irish after the end of the mission, they can see the box with the Gatling Gun in it has disappeared, Irish is driving an empty cart.
- ◆Irish may fall off the cliff and die when he tells the player to meet him at the bottom of the hill but the player will not fail the mission.
