Über diese Waffe
Die Gatling Gun ist eine frühe Schnellfeuerwaffe und ein Vorläufer des modernen Maschinengewehrs. In Red Dead Redemption 2 erscheint sie als montierte Waffe statt als von einem Charakter getragene Schusswaffe. Ihr Munitionstyp wird nicht separat aufgeführt, und die Waffe bleibt an der Position befestigt, an der sie installiert ist.
Im Spiel gibt es nur eine Gatling Gun. Sie ist in Fort Mercer in New Austin montiert. Da New Austin während des Epilogs zugänglich wird, ist die Waffe erst verfügbar, nachdem die Hauptgeschichte abgeschlossen ist und der Epilog diesen Teil der Karte erreicht.
In Fort Mercer stellt die Gatling Gun das einzige Beispiel im Spiel für diese frühe Schnellfeuerwaffe dar. Ihre feste Montage unterscheidet sie von den zu Fuß getragenen Waffen, sodass ihre Nutzung an Fort Mercer gebunden bleibt, statt sie an andere Orte in der Welt mitnehmen zu können.

- ◆The Gatling Gun in Red Dead Redemption is based on the original 1862 Gatling gun, as designed by its namesake, Dr. Richard Gatling, but it lacks the hopper/magazine that is a necessary component to feed ammunition to the real world gun; whereas Marston fires the game weapon by himself, the actual gun required a fulltime loader.
- ◆Even though the Gatling Gun has unlimited ammunition, the person the player is working with will sometimes say that the player "needs the ammunition."
- ◆There is a very rare glitch in which the player uses the Gatling Gun immediately after the Bolt Action Rifle, and the Gatling will only fire one bullet every time the firing handle is turned.
