Nine years after the Ludendorff robbery, Michael De Santa ends a tense therapy session with Dr. Isiah Friedlander. He sits on a bench overlooking Del Perro Beach, where Franklin Clinton and Lamar Davis approach him for directions to the Bertolt Beach House in Pacific Bluffs. Michael reluctantly points them toward the address, and the focus shifts to Franklin. He questions the legitimacy of Simeon Yetarian's repossession work as Lamar leads him to the house.

At the Bertolt Beach House, Franklin chooses one of two convertibles while Lamar takes the other. They pull away and race through Los Santos, passing through the Richards Majestic movie studio and across the city toward the Union Depository. Franklin follows Lamar into the car park, where their noisy arrival brings the LSPD down on them. They split up to shake the police before Franklin returns the repossessed car to Premium Deluxe Motorsport.

Behind the dealership, Franklin finds Lamar watching Simeon pressure Jimmy De Santa into a sale while objecting to Jimmy's racist remarks. Franklin and Lamar leave in Franklin's Buffalo S and drive to his home in Strawberry. Lamar mocks Franklin's haircut when he is not allowed inside. Franklin enters the house, where Denise Clinton makes herself known.

Trivia

  • โ—†This mission is similar to the GTA San Andreas mission Test Drive, in which CJ and Cesar steal two cars from a car dealership and must escape from the police.
  • โ—†Also, the comments that Lamar makes about Franklin needing a haircut is a homage to the second mission in GTA San Andreas, Sweet & Kendl, in which Ryder tells Carl to get a haircut since it's embarrassing to be seen with him.
  • โ—†This is the only time Lamar and Michael talk with one another.
  • โ—†If Franklin is ahead of Lamar inside the movie studio, and avoids the aliens, Lamar will actually hit the aliens, preventing the player from getting that gold medal objective despite not hitting the aliens themselves.
  • โ—†Jimmy claims that he would never use the word "n****" and is not a racist, yet when Franklin breaks into Michael's house to repossess Jimmy's car, Jimmy can be heard shouting the word "n****" to another gamer over his games console's headset. However, he may have felt afraid of Lamar when he confronted him at the car dealership, due to Lamar's imposing stature and demeanor.
  • โ—†If Franklin gets in a fight while Lamar is riding in the Buffalo S, Lamar will not assist Franklin.
  • โ—†In the original version, the radio is automatically tuned into West Coast Classics and the song playing when Franklin begins racing with Lamar is always "Appetite for Destruction" by N.W.A In the Enhanced and Expanded & Enhanced editions, the radio is tuned into Radio Los Santos, and the song playing instead is always "Bad News" by Action Bronson and Danny Brown.
  • โ—†If the player stays at the house after getting in the car, the car owner will pull Franklin from the car and start attacking him.
  • โ—†According to a pre-released screenshot, this mission was originally meant to take place at night rather than during the day.
  • โ—†When looking closely at the trailer featuring the mission, the 9F Cabrio that Franklin is driving has an "SA Exempt" plate, meaning that it is a government vehicle. This has been changed in the final version, however, and the 9F Cabrio spawns with an ordinary "San Andreas" licence plate.
  • โ—†After the cutscene turns into gameplay, Michael will no longer be sitting on the bench.
  • โ—†In the enhanced version, a randomly colored Alpha can be seen in the parking area the red Carbonizzare enters.
  • โ—†When Franklin grabs Lamar's arm, only one car can immediately be seen parked behind them. In the next shot, however, many more can be seen.
  • โ—†Because of the scripted nature of the race, Lamar's car is both invulnerable and immovable. If Franklin manages to catch up to Lamar, he will be completely unable to affect Lamar's car in any way.
  • โ—†If Franklin manages to pass Lamar either by sheer driving skills or with his special ability during the race, he will react negatively, saying "How the fuck did you get ahead of me?", with Franklin replying because he's slow.
  • โ—†As both Franklin and Lamar pull away with the boosted cars, they race along the many streets of Los Santos before finally reaching Simeon's dealership. The entire sequence of the race is scripted, in a very similar style to the escape sequence in the subtle approach to The Big Score. The mission's sequence mainly focuses on Mananas and Intruders.

  • โ—†The ending cutscene of the mission, where Franklin parts with Lamar, who in return mocks Franklin's haircut and love life, became an internet meme titled "Lamar Roasts Franklin". Created in 2020, it would see a rapid and massive surge in popularity in the next year.
  • โ—†In 2021, Shawn Fonteno and Slink Johnson reprised their roles as Franklin and Lamar, respectively, to the cutscene at the end of the mission.
  • โ—†At the end of Short Trip - Fire it Up, Franklin and Lamar reference this by reenacting the cutscene's scenario, where Franklin refuses to let Lamar in because his kids are home, while Lamar mocks Franklin's poor family harmony in return.
