Player notes

After choosing to kill Trevor, Franklin calls him and asks to meet somewhere quiet. Trevor suggests the empty lots off El Burro Heights. As Franklin drives there, he calls Michael and explains what he intends to do, asking for help. Michael is reluctant to involve himself, but says he will see what he can do.

At El Burro Heights after dark, Trevor assumes Franklin wants to settle the dispute between him and Michael. Franklin instead draws a gun and tells Trevor that his instability will get all three of them killed. Trevor insists that he has been honest with Franklin, then flees in his truck, calling Franklin another Judas. Franklin pursues him through Los Santos toward Murrieta Oil Field.

Michael calls to say he is nearby, then arrives in a stolen Premier and rams Trevor's truck into a gas tanker. Fuel spills over Trevor as he crawls from the wreck and condemns both men for betraying him. Franklin ignites the gasoline, or Michael does so if Franklin hesitates, and Trevor burns as the tanker explodes. Michael and Franklin speak briefly beside the fire, then leave the oil field separately as the credits roll over Los Santos.

Trivia

  • โ—†The mission name is a reference to Steve Haines' quote from Lamar Down. After Franklin lists a few crazy crimes that he assumes Steve Haines will order him to do, Steve says that he wants Franklin to do "something more sensible", and proceeds to tell Franklin to kill Trevor.
  • โ—†Just like ending B, if Franklin calls Lester directly after Trevor and before proceeding to call Michael, the ending will change to the Deathwish ending/ending C, with the call to Michael being cancelled.
  • โ—†This ending was foreshadowed in Casing the Jewel Store when Michael asked Lester if Trevor ended up as a burnt body on the side of the road.
  • โ—†The line Franklin says to Trevor "Yeah, you have been true with me. But the truth ain't what I'm interested in" is similar to a line Michael can say during the mission Dead Man Walking, "Trust me, I'm not interested in the truth!"
  • โ—†The Bodhi cannot be overtaken or else it will dramatically speed up.
  • โ—†Both Trevor and his truck cannot be damaged during the car chase. However, shooting Trevor will cause visible bullet holes on his torso and arms. They will stay on his body until he is killed.
  • โ—†Even if the player shoots Trevor in the head while covered in gasoline, he still screams while on fire, due to the script of the mission.
  • โ—†Throughout the game, Trevor foreshadows his own death in the following ways:
  • โ—†In a , where he wakes up drunk, he says "You just gonna stand there while I burn to a crisp?"
  • โ—†Trevor may sometimes say, "Why hasn't someone sensible shot you yet?" when insulting or shooting pedestrians, referencing the name of this mission. However, he will continue to say this line occasionally if either The Time's Come or The Third Way were chosen as the finale.
  • โ—†During the GTA Online mission Series A - Steal Meth, the s steal a truck full of meth juice, after which Trevor warns them that it shouldn't be shot at too much due to its flammability, before sarcastically remarking, "But, hey, it's your flaming carcass, not mine."
  • โ—†During Eye in the Sky, when Franklin refuses to pass on Trevor's greeting to Molly, Trevor remarks "After everything I've done for you... you are just like Michael", mirroring what he says during this mission.
  • โ—†Trevor and Michael will always wear their respective default outfits (white T-shirt and jeans for Trevor; grey suit for Michael) during this mission.
  • โ—†Franklin's outfit will not change in the original version of the game. However, in the enhanced and expanded & enhanced versions of the game, his outfit will be changed to his default one (white tanktop with white pants) during the time he waits for Trevor to show up at the oil field.
  • โ—†If the player has changed Trevor's hairstyle before this mission, it will revert back to his default hairstyle.
  • โ—†Franklin and Michael will retain any hairstyle changes.
  • โ—†During the chase sequence, failing the mission three times and choosing to skip the current section will cause Franklin and Michael to revert to their default hairstyles, and will cause Franklin to wear a white tank top and cargo shorts, regardless of what he was wearing before the skip.
  • โ—†Even though skipping the chase sequence causes Franklin's hairstyle and clothing to change, he will retain any glasses or earrings he was wearing before the skip.
  • โ—†After this mission is completed, some Bleeter posts will mention Steve Haines' death and Merryweather Security closing its operation in the USA. Both of these events refer to The Third Way ending, and are probably caused by an oversight of coding.
  • โ—†If the player changed the color and wheels on the Premier that Michael drives after Jimmy steals his Tailgater, then the one he uses in this mission will have those same modifications, indicating that it is the same car. However, any other mods will not be present.
  • โ—†However, if the Premier was not modified, he will use an unmodified Premier that will spawn with a random color.
  • โ—†The song that plays just before the credits at the end of this mission is "Don't Come Close" by Yeasayer. This song can also be heard on Radio Mirror Park.
  • โ—†When the credits start rolling, just before the screen fades to black, the player can control Franklin for a few seconds.
