About this vehicle

The Dashound is a ten-seat Service-class coach with a triple-axle layout, finished only in its white and blue Dashound company livery. Its design reuses the shortened coach seen in a beta television advertisement, with a curved split windscreen, a front hinge door and luggage-bay panels along the body. The passenger cabin has paired seats on both sides of the aisle, while the rear-mounted engine sits behind the cabin.

In Los Santos, Dashounds travel around Los Santos International Airport, the Great Ocean Highway and the eastern highways. They can be parked by Hill Valley Church on West Eclipse Boulevard in Pacific Bluffs, in Vespucci Beach, at the Vinewood Bowl coach stands, and at the RON station on Route 68 east of Route 1. In Grand Theft Auto Online, Warstock Cache & Carry sells the coach for $525,000.

The Dashound is slower to build speed than smaller vehicles, although its top speed exceeds that of the regular Bus. Its height and weight make it unstable through corners, and it can roll over easily. The coach is used as traffic transport, with travelling examples usually carrying a driver and a few passengers. Its engine produces a loud truck-like note, and enhanced versions give it randomly selected horn pitches when it spawns.

Trivia

◆The Dashound's name may be one of several puns; one is "das Hund" which is faux-German for "The Dog" (the article 'das' is neutrum, while the masculine 'Hund' would require the article 'der'), which people have referred to riding Greyhound as "Riding The Dog". The other is the common mispronouncing of "Dachshund" as "Dash-hound".

◆Like transit buses, most Dashounds found driving around (not parked) will have a small number of passengers besides the driver. The driver will exit the bus if he parks it, but as with the transit buses, passengers will neither embark nor disembark, even if the bus is stolen, nor will they interfere with the player (unlike the driver, who will often fight back).
