Taxi (HD Universe)

The Vapid Taxi is a full-size, four-door Service sedan with room for four people. In Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, it is Downtown Cab Co.'s yellow-and-blue cab, built on a second-generation reimagining of the Vapid Stanier rather than a civilian Stanier model. It carries circular hubcaps, orange beacon lights at either end, and either a standard roof taxi sign or an advertising board for Caca, Le Chien, Vanilla Unicorn or Die Already 4. These roof fittings can come loose in collisions. Its listed price is $650,000.

An eight-cylinder engine, five-speed gearbox and rear-wheel drive give the Taxi good acceleration and an above-average top speed for its class. Braking is acceptable and the engine is very durable, but the car loses much of its pace on inclines, particularly around Vinewood Hills. Its engine sounds worn at idle and after the throttle is released. The Taxi cannot receive performance or cosmetic modifications, although it can be repaired, and its Online version can use explosives.

In GTA V, Taxis appear across Los Santos, especially Downtown, outside the Oriental Theater and around Los Santos International Airport. They are also parked at the Downtown Cab Co. depot, where Franklin can enter them without attracting police attention after buying the property. Downtown Cab Co. can send one to a caller. In GTA Online they do not circulate as street traffic, but can still be requested by phone. They transport passengers on Taxi Rides and can be used for Taxi Jobs, with the dispatch radio directing drivers to fares and their destinations.
