About this vehicle
The Vapid Stanier is a full-size, four-door sedan with room for four people in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online. It appears as a civilian car, establishing the Stanier name for a model previously represented by service vehicles. Its standard wheel design is also used by the Minivan, while Taxi, Police Cruiser, Sheriff Cruiser and Unmarked Cruiser versions use the newer second-generation form.
In Grand Theft Auto V, Staniers appear around Strawberry and can sometimes be seen in Richman. Grand Theft Auto Online places them commonly in Strawberry and Rockford Hills, with further sightings around Vinewood Hills, West Vinewood and Cypress Flats. Southern San Andreas Super Autos sells the sedan for $10,000. The car was removed from that website during San Andreas Mercenaries, then returned with the Money Fronts update.
The Stanier shares much of its handling with the second-generation Police Cruiser. Its modified twin-cam V8 gives it an above-average top speed, and it keeps much of its momentum through fast, tight bends despite visible body roll. Rear-wheel drive lets it slide under power into corners. It also withstands repeated direct damage to its chassis, drivetrain and suspension, making it a durable civilian traffic sedan.
Trivia
- โThe Stanier's Southern San Andreas Super Autos description references an issue in early models of the second generation Crown Victoria, which caused fatal instances of explosions and fires after high-speed impacts. This was mitigated when Ford began to offer a fire suppression system from factory.
- โThe website's description also references the Crown Victoria's legacy as a fleet vehicle. The Crown Victoria was widely used by police and taxicab services from the 1990s into the 2010s and usually was equipped with the police package.
- โSimilar to the Gresley, the Stanier could be named after a famous locomotive engineer, William Stanier, who was best known for his designs for the London, Midland and Scottish Railway.
- โBeing the civilian variant of a taxi and a police car, the Stanier effectively fills the role previously slotted by the 3D Universe rendition of the Premier, previously seen in GTA San Andreas.
- โIn the first trailer of GTA V, a Stanier with the LSPD livery can be seen pursuing a vehicle. This Stanier also had the same equipment as the version found in GTA IV, which means it was probably just re-skinned. This suggests that the first-generation Stanier cruiser may have been initially intended to appear in GTA V but was replaced later in development by the second generation Police Cruiser.
