Static Planes
About this vehicle
Static Planes are non-controllable narrow-body jet airliners used as airport scenery in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online. Their exterior combines features of real-world narrow-body passenger jets, while the more detailed FlyUS aircraft used in Bury the Hatchet has a different, more specific airliner-like design. They appear in Adios Airlines, Caipira Airways, Air Herler and FlyUS liveries.
Several sit on the tarmac at Los Santos International Airport. An Adios Airlines example is parked a few gates from a Shamal, while Air Herler planes stand near runway 3/21, including one beside two Jets. Approaching one produces engine noise distinct from that of the other aircraft. They cannot be flown or otherwise operated.
The FlyUS plane in the opening introduction is a highly detailed static model. Another detailed FlyUS plane appears in Bury the Hatchet, with a fully modelled cabin and sharper exterior textures. Its cabin contrasts with the modern fuselage, using yellowed panels, green striped wallpaper and bright blue seats.
Trivia
- โIf the player walks near a static plane, the engine noise can be heard and is different from other aircraft.
- โUnlike the Jet, the 'US' decals on the FlyUS static planes do not fit the tail completely.
- โWhile the exterior of the static plane looks modern, the FlyUS interior as seen in Bury the Hatchet looks rather outdated. The aged yellowing wall and ceiling panels combined with the green striped wall paper and the bright blue seats gives it the appearance of a 1960s airline interior. This could possibly be hinting at FlyUS' apparent use of "aging death traps".
