Player notes
Trevor visits Michael at the De Santa Residence in Rockford Hills and talks about breaking Brad Snider out of prison. Michael refuses to discuss North Yankton or the man buried in his grave. Trevor realizes that Michael is hiding something, threatens him and storms out with Michael's car. Michael follows too late. Trevor heads for Sandy Shores Airfield while Michael calls him, trying to stop him from returning to North Yankton. Trevor rejects him. Michael then contacts Dave Norton to warn him that Trevor may know the truth.
The story follows either man on the journey north. Trevor takes a plane from Sandy Shores Airfield to Ludendorff, while Michael boards a flight at Los Santos International Airport and drives from there to Ludendorff Church and Cemetery. Trevor reaches Michael Townley's grave first and digs up the coffin. Michael arrives as Trevor uncovers Brad's body. Michael admits that the North Yankton robbery was arranged with the FIB: Brad took the bullet intended for Trevor, while Michael pretended to be dying so Trevor would escape believing both men were dead.
Michael and Trevor draw their pistols on each other, but Wei Cheng's Triads arrive to seize Trevor. Trevor's gun jams as he tries to fire. He throws it at Michael and flees through the cemetery, leaving Michael to fight the Triads. Michael reaches his car but is forced out and taken captive. The view switches to Trevor flying back across the Pacific Ocean. Cheng calls to demand Trevor's Blaine County operations in exchange for Michael's life. Trevor mocks him, then lands at Sandy Shores Airfield.

Trivia
- โThe mission title is an idiom meaning "to make peace" or "to forget about the past".
- โIn the Bottom Dollar Bounties update for GTA Online, the title of this mission is referenced during the Ludendorff Cemetery Survival with a literal hatchet spawn point at "Michael's" grave.
- โThis is the second mission in the series which requires the player to fly into another restricted and snowy location, the first being Saint Mark's Bistro in GTA San Andreas.
- โMichael driving to Ludendorff's cemetery is similar to a moment in the mission (when riding back to camp as ) from , another game by Rockstar, as the two scenes involve the protagonist remembering quotes and conversations from their past as they travel to a certain location to confront their enemies.
- โThis mission is very similar to the of the Rockstar game . Both the mission and the chapter happen in a cemetery while it is snowing, both involve the protagonist trying to get out of the cemetery after a shootout begins, and both protagonists (Michael and ) have a special ability of being able to shoot in slow motion. Both protagonists are also captured whilst trying to escape (although Max escapes, whilst Michael does not).
- โTrevor stating that "What happens in the dark, comes out in the light" could possibly be an adaptation of a quote from Luke 12:2-3 in the Bible that reads "Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light". This became a Dhar Mann moral in the mid-2020s and was popularized in Dhar Mann's videos.
- โIn the cutscene where Michael is boarding the plane, through the plane window, a bus can be seen within the airport tarmac. This cannot be seen in normal gameplay, as buses will only spawn normally on the roads surrounding the airport tarmac instead.
- โMoreover, once the plane is shown in the air, North Yankton can be sighted in the background.
- โIf the mission is started with Michael, Trevor will steal any car previously driven by Michael, not exclusively his Tailgater. This only works if the player leaves Michael's Tailgater anywhere (or otherwise destroyed it) to take any other car.
- โIf the player decides to travel to North Yankton as Trevor, he will have to fly west of San Andreas in order to go to North Yankton, despite it being located east of San Andreas. As he flies closer to the Pacific Ocean, the weather changes from cloudy to rain to a thunderstorm.
- โThe Cuban 800 Trevor uses in this mission has a unique grey color scheme. It can be obtained by simply storing it in his hangar after completing the mission.
- โThis mission marks one of the rare appearances of the Asea in the original version of the game if playing as Michael, although in this mission a special snowy variant is used.
- โWhile in North Yankton, it will be impossible to listen to radio stations. The player must wait until Trevor flies his Cuban 800 over the Pacific Ocean to regain the ability to do so.
- โWhen the player is in North Yankton, the time always starts at 22:00 and freezes once it gets to 00:00.
- โThe alien frozen under the railway bridge seen in Prologue is still there in this mission.
- โMichael is noticeably trying to hold his tears when he argues with Trevor, his voice cracking multiple times due to the emotion.
- โThe cutscene at the graveyard was originally longer by a moderate amount. According to the PS3 files, there were additional lines of dialogue between Michael and Trevor that were removed from the final cutscene. Only the overall dialogue audio remains, while other sounds, such as shovel digging and pistol shots, are absent.
- โWhen Michael fires his pistol at Trevor during the cutscene, it notably has a different firing sound.
- โThe Burritos driven by the Triads have much lower health than normal. They can be destroyed with a full Carbine Rifle magazine. This is because Michael's arsenal is "weak" (no explosives or heavy weapons), so that destroying vehicles before the Triads exit them is easier. These Burritos can be driven, but they break down if the player drives too far, usually before the player gets across the railroad tracks.
- โThis mission spawns six snow covered vehicles. All of them except the Burrito and Mesa can be observed driving on the roads leading to and around Ludendorff, with the Asea being controlled by the player. These vehicles are as follows:
- โAsea (used by Michael).
- โBurrito (second generation, when the Los Santos Triads attack).
- โEmperor (beater).
- โMesa (outside the church; it likely belongs to Trevor, as it disappears when the shootout occurs).
- โRancher XL.
- โSadler (rarely with trailers).
- โMichael's stolen Tailgater will still be parked at Sandy Shores Airfield when Trevor returns. This offers a rare chance for a character to easily obtain and save another character's default vehicle. Any mods applied to it previously by Michael (or Jimmy) remain in place.
- โOnce Fresh Meat is complete, Michael's outfit from this mission will be available to wear. It is entitled "Ludendorff". Trevor's Ludendorff outfit will be available immediately upon completing this mission.
