Abigail Marston

Abigail Roberts grows up orphaned and survives through prostitution before Uncle brings her into the Van der Linde gang around 1894. She leaves that life after falling in love with John Marston and giving birth to Jack. They later have a daughter who dies. John recoils from being a father, leaves the gang for a year, and continues to neglect Jack after returning. Abigail repeatedly presses him to take responsibility for their family.

After the Blackwater ferry robbery, Abigail reaches Colter with the gang and asks Arthur Morgan to help Javier Escuella find the missing John. At Horseshoe Overlook, she sends Arthur fishing with Jack. Jack's abduction by the Braithwaites devastates her, but the gang recovers him from Angelo Bronte in Saint Denis. Abigail and Hosea Matthews help prepare the Lemoyne National Bank robbery, then escape its failed diversion while Hosea is taken by the Pinkertons.

When John is imprisoned, Abigail asks Dutch van der Linde to save him and turns instead to Arthur and Sadie Adler. After they bring John back, she searches for the gang's money so the family can flee. Agent Milton captures her during the train robbery. Arthur and Sadie rescue her, and Abigail kills Milton after escaping her restraints. She joins Jack and Tilly Jackson at Copperhead Landing, where John reaches them after surviving the gang's collapse.

Years of moving through the north leave Abigail exhausted by John's repeated trouble. In 1907, she and Jack work as cleaners at Pronghorn Ranch, but she leaves when John again resorts to violence. John buys Beecher's Hope and builds a house, bringing Abigail and Jack home. They marry there. In 1911, federal agents take Abigail and Jack to force John to hunt his former gang. She returns after his work is done, then finds him dead after the army attacks the ranch. Abigail dies in 1914, and Jack buries her beside John at Beecher's Hope.
