At Campo Mirada, John Marston meets Luisa Fortuna, who is anxious about the revolution's future. Her father has been executed for treason, and she asks John to join the rebels' cause. Colonel Agustin Allende is sending a convoy of supplies and reinforcements against them. Abraham Reyes wants the convoy stopped, so Luisa brings John into the plan to destroy it before it can reach the army.

John rides with Luisa toward Frontera Bridge. During the journey, she asks about his past and his view of revolutions. John speaks bitterly of movements that begin with ideals but descend into killing, and says he does not want his son Jack to grow into a man like him. Luisa also learns that John has some experience with explosives.

At Frontera Bridge, rebel fighters take John's weapons while they prepare the ambush. John lays dynamite charges along the road beneath the bridge, then joins Luisa at the detonator on the ridge. Allende's supply wagons and mounted soldiers arrive, and John detonates the charges, destroying the convoy. With the reinforcements stopped, Luisa thanks him and promises to return the favour before leaving him at Frontera Bridge.

Trivia

  • โ—†This mission title is kind of a reference to the Biblical Abraham, who is referred to as the "father of many nations".
  • โ—†John mentions the name of his son Jack for the first time in this mission, during the travel with Luisa.
  • โ—†When Marston explains to Luisa about how revolutions are, he says that "there're guns and money but there is no freedom". This is foreshadowed that in 1914 after overthrowing President Sanchez, Abraham proves to be no better than him as the evidence on the newspaper states after the first Mexican Revolution.
  • โ—†John's comment about not wanting his son to become a man like himself foreshadows the events of "Remember My Family", where Jack ultimately does become like John as he begins his life as an outlaw, after avenging his father's death three years prior.
  • โ—†In a conversation with Luisa about revolution, John alludes to Dutch van der Lindeโ€™s fall from grace when he says "Until people forget what theyโ€™re shooting for and just enjoy killing for its own sake." This is a reference to how Dutch went from committing violent acts in the name of his ideals of a free Wild West to killing for his enjoyment.
  • โ—†When Luisa asks John if he has any experience with explosives, John replies, "A little, been a long time." This is a reference to the mission "The Bridge to Nowhere" in Red Dead Redemption 2.
