Must a Savior Die?

At Campo Mirada, Luisa Fortuna tells John Marston that Abraham Reyes has been captured by the Mexican Army and condemned to die at El Presidio. Fearing that the rebellion will collapse without him, she asks John to help. John rides in Luisa's wagon as she takes him across Nuevo Paraiso to the fortress, then leaves her outside its walls.

John slips through a broken section of El Presidio's wall and reaches a sniper position above the execution yard. Reyes is held below, with an executioner ready to shoot him. John uses the Rolling Block to kill the executioner before the sentence can be carried out, then fights through the fort's soldiers until the courtyard is clear.

John releases Reyes, who asks for a horse. John finds one at the far end of El Presidio and returns for him. With Reyes riding behind him, John follows a rebel guide out of the fort and down to a landing on the San Luis River, where Luisa is waiting. Reyes embraces her, calls her Laura, and speaks of writing a poem about his escape.
