Women and Cattle

Outside the MacFarlane house, Bonnie MacFarlane presses John Marston for an explanation of his guarded manner. John finally admits that he has a criminal past and that he is in New Austin on business he cannot ignore. Bonnie begins to understand why he has kept his affairs to himself, then eases the conversation by asking him to help move some cattle into another pasture. John mounts his horse and rides with her toward the ranch's cattle pen.

At the pen, Bonnie leads John behind a small group of cattle. Together they drive the animals through the open gate and out of the enclosure. Bonnie takes the lead along the road while John keeps behind the herd, steering the cattle away from the wrong side of the track. The small group reaches the larger herd waiting outside the ranch and merges with it.

With ranch hands helping to keep the animals together, Bonnie and John guide the full herd across the land toward the far pasture. John rides behind and alongside the cattle, correcting their course whenever they begin to stray. The herd passes through the pasture entrance and settles inside the enclosure. Bonnie and John remain at MacFarlane's Ranch as the cattle are brought in.
