Beau Gray

Beauregard "Beau" Gray belongs to the Gray family of Lemoyne and lives at Caliga Hall. Before 1899, he falls in love with Penelope Braithwaite, despite the feud between their families and his arrangement to marry his cousin Mathilda. He first appears at the Rhodes sheriff's office after Dutch van der Linde, Hosea Matthews and Arthur Morgan deliver the Anderson Boys. Leigh Gray takes Beau inside to question him over reports that he has been speaking with Penelope.

Arthur meets Beau at Caliga Hall while looking into the Gray family for Dutch. Beau confides in him and asks him to carry a letter to Penelope. Arthur delivers it at Braithwaite Manor, then returns with Penelope's reply. Her letter tells Beau that she plans to join Olive Calhoon's women's suffrage march. Beau rides with Arthur to the gathering, but Penelope will not abandon the demonstration. Arthur drives the suffragists' carriage into Rhodes, while Beau waits through the speech at the Bank of Rhodes.

Iain and Scott Gray confront Beau after the march. Arthur gets him away from Rhodes before his cousins can harm him. Later, Beau meets Penelope at the train station as Arthur brings her there to flee with him to Boston. Iain and Scott start a fight on the platform, and Arthur knocks them out. Penelope's cousins then chase the departing train. Arthur fights them off and takes control when the driver flees, stopping at Riggs Station. Beau and Penelope leave by stagecoach for Boston.
