Confederate States Army

The Confederate States Army is the military force of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War. It operates across the Southern United States after southern states, including Lemoyne, secede from the Union. Its troops fight the United States in an effort to secure southern independence while preserving and extending slavery. Its known personnel include General Quincy T. Harris, Major Hobart H. Crawley, Joe Butler, Lindsey Wofford and Garfield.

On March 30, 1863, Crawley leads a Confederate charge that Union soldiers stop, leaving thousands of Confederates dead and Crawley as the only survivor. Rhodes later erects a statue to commemorate the battle. On May 8, Harris leads Confederate troops in a nighttime attack on Fort Brennand, where they massacre the Union garrison. In 1864, Harris also fights at Bolger Glade during the Battle of Scarlett Meadows, where Confederate forces repel a Union offensive despite severe losses.

The war ends in 1865 when General Robert E. Lee surrenders at Appomattox Courthouse. Lemoyne returns to the Union, and the Confederate States Army is dissolved. By 1899, Red Dead Redemption 2 encounters its legacy in Lemoyne: the Lemoyne Raiders include former Confederate soldiers who still resent the North, while the Ku Klux Klan appears in local encounters. Former high-ranking Confederate officers live in Saint Denis society and attend its galas.
