Gang members Dutch van der Linde, Arthur Morgan, John Marston, Bill Williamson, and Lenny Summers attack Bronte's mansion from the river to get rid of the threat of Bronte's men and to take revenge for the trolley station setup.

Player notes

At Lagras, Arthur Morgan joins Dutch van der Linde, John Marston, Bill Williamson and Lenny Summers aboard a skiff. Thomas guides them through Bayou Nwa to the rear of Angelo Bronte's mansion in Saint Denis. The gang lands at a pier, climbs over the wall and advances across the grounds. When Bronte's guards block their path, Arthur and the others open fire. They cut down the men outside, then force their way into the mansion.

Inside, the gang fights through Bronte's guards on the ground floor before moving upstairs to search for him. They find Bronte in one of the rooms. He attempts to use his pistol against John, but it fails him, and John knocks him unconscious. Arthur takes Bronte over his shoulder as the gang heads back through the house. Lawmen converge outside, and Arthur, Dutch, John, Bill and Lenny fight their way through the streets and swamp to reach the skiff.

As Thomas takes the gang away through the bayou, Bronte wakes and argues with Dutch. He mocks Dutch's life as an outlaw and offers the others money to turn on their leader. Dutch refuses to listen. He seizes Bronte, drowns him in the water and throws his body to an alligator. Arthur and John watch in silence as the skiff carries the gang back to Shady Belle.

Trivia

  • โ—†After drowning Bronte, Dutch says to John, "It is us, or him! I figure it might as well be him." Years later, a similar line is spoken by John himself during his confrontation with Javier Escuella: "It's you or me, the way I see it, it might as well be you."
  • โ—†At the start of the mission, while on the way to Bronte's mansion, Arthur has a slight cough, another sign of his advancing tuberculosis.
  • โ—†Dutch calls Bronte a "repulsive little maggot" as he's drowning him. Pearson can be heard saying this to Uncle when he insults Pearson's cooking in one of the camp encounters.
  • โ—†There are two documents which can be collected during the mansion raid. One document is a note of racketeering numbers for Saint Denis business. And another document is a telegram to Police Chief Lambert, telling him to place his men near the trolley station.
  • โ—†This mission title is a parody of an age-old proverb, "Revenge is a dish best served cold."
  • โ—†When the gang begins breaking into Bronte's mansion, Arthur will receive a Double-Barreled Shotgun from Dutch. If the player already carries two longarms, it will replace one of them.
  • โ—†Dutch can be seen picking up said Double-Barreled Shotgun on the right side of the fountain, which results in the icon disappearing from the mini-map.
  • โ—†Despite being given by Dutch, the weapon is actually the player's own Double-Barreled Shotgun and will carry over any upgrades or customizations already applied to this weapon.
  • โ—†If the player shoots the doorknob with any weapon before Dutch passes you the shotgun, he will instead sling it on his shoulder and wait for Arthur to kick the door in. This is one of the only cases of Dutch carrying a longarm in game.
  • โ—†If the player takes too long to get to the door, John will open it instead.
  • โ—†Bronte is carrying $150, which can be looted after he is knocked out during the raid. The money can be used to pay off the bounty gained by the raid.
  • โ—†Bronte's Mauser Pistol, which he throws at John, can be picked up before grabbing his unconscious body, despite the weapon not being unlocked until the Chapter 5 mission "That's Murfree Country".
  • โ—†If the player fires a shot before entering Bronte's mansion, John will react to it.
  • โ—†The alligator that eats Bronte once he is thrown off the skiff is shown earlier, when the gang reaches the back of Bronte's mansion.
