Franklin liga para Michael e pede que ele o encontre em algum lugar tranquilo. Michael marca o encontro nas antenas de satélite perto da Route 68, no Grand Senora Desert. Antes de sair, Franklin telefona para Trevor, conta que pretende matar Michael e pede ajuda. Trevor se recusa, revoltado com a traição de Franklin contra Michael, e desliga.

Depois de escurecer, os dois se encontram nas antenas. Michael fala que a parceria com Franklin aproximou sua família e lhe garantiu o trabalho que sempre quis. Uma ligação informa que Tracey entrou na faculdade. Franklin tenta falar de tudo que passaram juntos sem revelar sua decisão, mas Michael percebe a intenção dele. Franklin atira, e Michael foge de carro. Franklin o persegue pelos trilhos até a Palmer-Taylor Power Station, continua a perseguição a pé pela usina e sobe pelas estruturas enquanto os dois trocam tiros.

Em uma passarela de chaminé, Michael confronta Franklin pela traição e diz que o via como um filho. Os dois brigam, e Franklin responde que sempre foi a "cadela" de Michael. Franklin empurra Michael por cima da grade, mas segura sua mão. Ele pode soltá-lo ou tentar puxá-lo de volta, porém Michael cai e morre de qualquer forma. Franklin liga para Lamar, cai na caixa postal e deixa uma mensagem arrependida. Em seguida, ele se afasta da Palmer-Taylor Power Station enquanto os créditos começam.

Curiosidades

  • ◆The name of the mission comes from what Franklin says to Michael as he holds him up over the edge of the tower: "Eh, you told me when the time came, I'd know. I'm sorry!"
  • ◆Just like ending A, if Franklin proceeds to call Lester instead of Trevor, the ending will change to the Deathwish ending/ending C, cancelling Franklin's action of calling Trevor.
  • ◆Regardless of what ringtone option the player has chosen for Michael's phone, it will always be the second option that plays in the beginning cutscene.
  • ◆The Tailgater cannot be overtaken or else it will dramatically speed up.
  • ◆While Michael is invulnerable to bullets hitting him, he can still damage Franklin.
  • ◆This is the second instance in the storyline where Michael is noticeably trying to hold back tears. When Michael says he treated Franklin like family, his voice cracks whilst saying "and now you're gonna cap..." due to emotion.
  • ◆Michael's line "I taught you everything you know", and Franklin's response, "Not everything", is similar to the conversation between Dwayne Forge and Playboy X in Deconstruction for Beginners in GTA IV, in which Playboy tells Niko that "He taught me everything I know", and Dwayne responds "Not everything".
  • ◆Franklin's quote to Lamar at the end of this mission is the same as Michael's quote at the end of the mission Fresh Meat when he was explaining to Franklin about why he betrayed his crew ("You wake up one day, and your legs... They just give, and you just can't run anymore").
  • ◆The Chinese translation for the gold medal objective, "Surpassed the Mentor", is "青出於藍", which roughly means "Green Comes from Blue". This references Franklin and Michael's theme colors and the fact that Franklin kills Michael in this mission.
  • ◆After this mission is completed, some Bleeter posts will mention Steve Haines' death and Merryweather Security closing its operation in the USA. Both of these events refer to The Third Way ending, and are probably an oversight.
  • ◆The song "Sleepwalking" by The Chain Gang of 1974 plays during the credits for this ending and can also be heard on Radio Mirror Park.
  • ◆Information discovered in the GTA 5 source code leak alleged that in the beta stages of the game, Michael was to be dropped into a police helicopter’s blades instead of plummeting to his death. The circumstances that would’ve led up to this are unknown.
