John Marston приезжает в Agave Viejo и требует от Abraham Reyes объяснить план захвата Javier Escuella. Reyes отвечает, что Escuella находится в El Presidio, а штурм форта Mexican Army заодно передаст его повстанцам. John садится с Reyes в повозку, нагруженную TNT. У форта Reyes поджигает фитиль и гонит лошадей вперёд. John спрыгивает прежде, чем повозка проламывает ворота El Presidio и открывает повстанцам путь внутрь.
John отбивается от мексиканских солдат, защищающих форт, и обыскивает здания в поисках Escuella. Он находит его наверху в казармах. Escuella обещает отвести John к Bill Williamson и Dutch van der Linde в обмен на жизнь, но сбрасывает на него ящик и скрывается через окно. John преследует его за пределами El Presidio, догоняет и либо берёт живым, либо убивает.
После расправы над Escuella к El Presidio подходят подкрепления Mexican Army. John занимает пушку и уничтожает приближающиеся патрули и повозки, не давая им отбить форт. Затем он забирает Escuella и несёт его к берегу, где Reyes шутит о встрече старых друзей.
На острове к северу от Ramita de la Baya John встречается с Edgar Ross и Archer Fordham. Он передаёт Escuella агентам, либо его тело, если тот был убит. Ross и Fordham говорят, что следующая цель John это Bill Williamson, после чего велят ехать в Blackwater, где, по их мнению, находится Dutch van der Linde.

- ◆If the player is replaying the mission, Reyes will always say that John didn't kill De Santa during the previous mission.
- ◆In this mission, John obtains the Bolt Action Rifle if he hasn't bought it before.
- ◆There has been a glitch reported when John Marston lassoes Escuella, just before he hogties him on the road leading out of El Presidio. This has also occurred when you use Dead Eye to shoot Escuella's horse from underneath him. The glitch is strange, as even though Escuella is on the ground lassoed, both Escuella and John Marston continue talking as before when the chase for Escuella was on.
- ◆When the army sends reinforcements, even if the player does nothing, the other rebels are entrenched well enough to handle the few soldiers attacking El Presidio, thus making it near impossible to not obtain victory at this point in the mission.
- ◆This is the only mission in which John cries (if the player kills Escuella).
- ◆Once the player completes this mission and has not started the next mission, there is a glitch in Casa Madrugada. Wild animals will spawn very often and will not attack the player.
- ◆Edgar Ross and Archer Fordham manage to get through New Austin despite the bridge from West Elizabeth to New Austin being unusable at the time of the mission.
- ◆In the Game of the Year Edition, the woman Reyes is having sex with will have her breasts covered up by her clothes, unlike in the original version where they are visible. This censorship was reverted in later versions of the game.
