Donkey, или стандартный осёл, основан на Equus africanus asinus. В Red Dead Redemption 2 и Red Dead Online это животное можно оседлать в смысле езды верхом и привязать, однако седло на него не устанавливается. Осёл заметно меньше и медленнее лошади, поэтому уступает ей в скорости и размерах. Его также нельзя поместить в конюшню, и он остаётся временным ездовым животным, а не лошадью, которую игрок может содержать.
В Lemoyne ослы встречаются в Rhodes и на Hill Haven Ranch. В Red Dead Online они также есть в Carmody Dell и Flatneck Station, New Hanover. Во время случайной встречи у Watson's Cabin в северной части Big Valley, West Elizabeth, может появиться осёл. В Guarma два осла находятся на отдельных возвышениях Aguasdulces, а мужчина в пончо едет на одном возле Manicato. Ослы встречаются и в New Austin.
Осла можно привязать, использовать для езды и продать Horse Fence. Во время "A Kind and Benevolent Despot" осёл тащит Javier Escuella. В случайных встречах Red Dead Online на ослах ездят Danger Seeker и Fame Seeker. Возле Annesburg также изредка можно увидеть мужчину верхом на осле. Ослы не дают loot.
