Der BF Dune Buggy ist ein zweisitziger Sandrail der Klasse Off-Road. Sein langer, spartanischer Rahmen besitzt vier runde Scheinwerfer an der schmalen Front, eine offene Kabine ohne Türen oder Fenster sowie einen freiliegenden, hinten eingebauten Motor unter kantigen Streben. Er erscheint mit oder ohne vordere und seitliche Karosserieteile, einige Versionen haben ein kleines Segeldach. Seine Bauweise entspricht der eines Sandrails, während sein Aussehen an den Bandito erinnert.

Ein heckgetriebener Flat-4-Motor und ein Fünfganggetriebe verleihen dem Dune Buggy trotz seines geringen Gewichts eine starke Beschleunigung und eine respektable Höchstgeschwindigkeit. In Kurven bleibt er stabil und behält bei Tempo ein brauchbares Maß an Grip, sowohl auf Asphalt als auch auf unbefestigtem Untergrund. Nach Sprüngen, Überschlägen und leichten Zusammenstößen fängt er sich schnell wieder, doch sein leichter Rahmen ist bei Kollisionen anfällig. Das offene Cockpit setzt seine Insassen außerdem Schusswaffenfeuer aus.

In Grand Theft Auto V erscheinen Dune Buggies überall in Blaine County, unter anderem in der Grand Senora Desert, bei Sandy Shores Airfield, in Grapeseed, Raton Canyon, Paleto Bay, Mount Chiliad, Mount Gordo und Stab City. Cletus Ewings Fahrzeuge können nach beiden Begegnungen mit ihm genommen werden. Bei McKenzie Field Hangar nutzt Trevor einen für Arms Trafficking Ground-Missionen. In Grand Theft Auto Online verkauft Southern San Andreas Super Autos ihn für $20,000, und Agent 14 kann während Nachschubarbeiten für den Bunker einen bereitstellen.

◆The Dune Buggy may be a nod to one of Rockstar North's/Angel Studios' earlier games, Smuggler's Run. This is further evidenced in its role in Oscar Guzman's arms smuggling missions.
◆The canvas top will still make a flapping noise even when in the garage, away from wind.
◆Cletus Ewing mentions that his Dune Buggy costs $4,000, which is inconsistent with the vehicle's true cost of $20,000 in GTA Online. This would mean that Cletus owns a second-hand/used example.
◆The Dune Buggy has no license plates, which would make it illegal to drive on the road. While it could be argued it is not supposed to be road-legal vehicle, NPCs are routinely seen driving it around Blaine County.

◆For some reason, handling files mentions an item for the Dune Buggy. It is unknown what kind of item it is.
◆During the Arms trafficking ground missions, any weapon crate picked up will be stored in the vehicle's front chassis, though players cannot see Trevor actually moving the crates.
