El BF Dune Buggy es un sand rail biplaza de la clase Off-Road. Su estructura larga y casi desnuda lleva cuatro faros redondos en el frontal estrecho, una cabina abierta sin puertas ni ventanillas y un motor trasero expuesto bajo barras angulares. Puede aparecer con o sin paneles de carrocería delante y a los lados, y algunas versiones llevan una pequeña capota de lona. Su construcción corresponde a la de un sand rail y su aspecto recuerda al Bandito.
El motor Flat-4, la tracción trasera y la caja de cinco velocidades proporcionan al Dune Buggy una aceleración fuerte para su poco peso y una velocidad máxima respetable. Se mantiene firme en las curvas y conserva buen agarre a velocidad alta, tanto sobre asfalto como fuera de él. Se recupera con rapidez de saltos, vuelcos y golpes menores, aunque su chasis ligero resiste mal los choques. La cabina abierta también deja a sus ocupantes expuestos a los disparos.
En Grand Theft Auto V, el Dune Buggy aparece por Blaine County, incluido el Grand Senora Desert, Sandy Shores Airfield, Grapeseed, Raton Canyon, Paleto Bay, Mount Chiliad, Mount Gordo y Stab City. Los vehículos de Cletus Ewing pueden tomarse tras sus dos encuentros. En McKenzie Field Hangar, Trevor emplea uno en las misiones Arms Trafficking Ground. - ◆Despite its name, every aspect of its construction is actually that of a Sandrail.
- ◆The Dune Buggy may be a nod to one of Rockstar North's/Angel Studios' earlier games, Smuggler's Run. This is further evidenced in its role in Oscar Guzman's arms smuggling missions.
- ◆The canvas top will still make a flapping noise even when in the garage, away from wind.
- ◆Cletus Ewing mentions that his Dune Buggy costs $4,000, which is inconsistent with the vehicle's true cost of $20,000 in GTA Online. This would mean that Cletus owns a second-hand/used example.
- ◆The Dune Buggy has no license plates, which would make it illegal to drive on the road. While it could be argued it is not supposed to be road-legal vehicle, NPCs are routinely seen driving it around Blaine County.
- ◆Before The High Life Update, the Dune Buggy could not be modified at Los Santos Customs. However, it is possible to modify it, except for the rim design.
- ◆The Dune Buggy's engine is heavily inspired by the , sharing the fuel pump, air-cooling drum, spark plug layout, dual-carburettors, air filters, exposed verniers and timing belt.
- ◆The same model is found in the Space Docker, Bifta, BF Injection and Ramp Buggy, which are also BF (Volkswagen) vehicles.
- ◆For some reason, handling files mentions an item for the Dune Buggy. It is unknown what kind of item it is.
- ◆During the Arms trafficking ground missions, any weapon crate picked up will be stored in the vehicle's front chassis, though players cannot see Trevor actually moving the crates.
- ◆This vehicle cannot have a crew emblem, likely due to the lack of doors or the removable body panels.
