O motor Flat-4 com tração traseira e câmbio de cinco marchas dá ao Dune Buggy uma aceleração forte para seu peso baixo e uma velocidade final respeitável. Ele se mantém estável nas curvas e conserva boa aderência em alta velocidade, tanto no asfalto quanto na terra. Recupera-se rápido de saltos, capotagens e impactos leves, mas sua estrutura leve sofre com colisões. A cabine aberta também deixa os ocupantes vulneráveis a tiros.

Em Grand Theft Auto V, o Dune Buggy aparece por Blaine County, incluindo o Grand Senora Desert, Sandy Shores Airfield, Grapeseed, Raton Canyon, Paleto Bay, Mount Chiliad, Mount Gordo e Stab City. ◆Cletus Ewing mentions that his Dune Buggy costs $4,000, which is inconsistent with the vehicle's true cost of $20,000 in GTA Online. This would mean that Cletus owns a second-hand/used example.
◆The Dune Buggy has no license plates, which would make it illegal to drive on the road. While it could be argued it is not supposed to be road-legal vehicle, NPCs are routinely seen driving it around Blaine County.
◆Before The High Life Update, the Dune Buggy could not be modified at Los Santos Customs. However, it is possible to modify it, except for the rim design.

◆For some reason, handling files mentions an item for the Dune Buggy. It is unknown what kind of item it is.
◆During the Arms trafficking ground missions, any weapon crate picked up will be stored in the vehicle's front chassis, though players cannot see Trevor actually moving the crates.
◆This vehicle cannot have a crew emblem, likely due to the lack of doors or the removable body panels.
