Player notes

Gustavo "Gus" Mota is a freelance gunman from East Los Santos and a former Los Santos Vagos member. He begins with smaller drug robberies for the gang, then takes part in the robbery of a broken-down security van. The job brings in more than $200,000, although the Vagos receive much of it. Gus uses his share to leave the gang and work independently.

After Casing the Jewel Store, Lester Crest puts Gus forward as a gunman for Michael De Santa, Franklin Clinton and Trevor Philips. Lester describes him as a professional, and Gus is available for The Jewel Store Job, whether the crew takes the Loud or Smart approach. His knowledge of firearms and weapon selection makes him an experienced but expensive hire.

Gus can next join Michael, Franklin and Trevor for The Paleto Score, where Michael calls him a professional while the crew waits in the chicken factory. He remains available for The Bureau Raid, on either the Fire Crew or Roof Entry plan, and for The Big Score, on either the Subtle or Obvious approach. When hired, Gus completes the work and survives, remaining a freelance gunman in Los Santos.

Trivia

◆If the player chooses him, Eddie, and Paige for The Jewel Store Job, and chooses the smart approach, Michael will mention, during the drive to the jewelry store, that he needs to give 12% to a gunman, despite Gus' cut being 14%. This is more than likely just a minor mistake made by Rockstar Games.
◆His catchphrase is "You know what I'm saying?". He also has a tendency to refer to the protagonists (if not everyone) as "homies".
◆Although he does not truly speak Spanglish (a combination of English and Spanish), which is common amongst Hispanic residents of Los Santos (and areas of the United States with high Hispanic populations in real life), his accent is clearly Mexican.
