Exercising the Truth

Michael arrives at a cluster of mobile homes in the Grand Senora Desert, where Marnie Allen, Jimmy Boston and Tom greet him. Jimmy presents him with a medal for his work with the Epsilon Program. Cris Formage addresses Michael over a loudspeaker, congratulating him and telling him that enlightenment is close. Once the broadcast ends, Marnie explains that Michael must make a large donation to the Epsilon Program headquarters in Rockford Hills, but first he has another test to complete.

Marnie, Jimmy and Tom depart, leaving Michael in the desert. He sets off on foot and covers five miles across the Grand Senora Desert as instructed. The Epsilon Program records his progress in tenths of a mile while he continues through the desert terrain. When he reaches the fourth mile, Cris calls to tell him that he is nearly finished.

After Michael completes the fifth mile, Cris calls again and congratulates him. Michael asks whether the exercise is over, but Cris tells him that his journey has only begun. He directs Michael to bring the large donation to the Epsilon Program headquarters in Rockford Hills. Michael remains in the Grand Senora Desert after the call.
