Jack Marston

Jack Marston is born in 1895 to John Marston and Abigail Roberts while they belong to the Van der Linde gang. He grows up among the gang's camps, protected by its members but often left with Abigail while John struggles to accept fatherhood. At Horseshoe Overlook, John turns down Jack's invitation to play knights. Arthur Morgan later takes the boy fishing, where Pinkertons Andrew Milton and Edgar Ross interrupt them. At Clemens Point, Jack befriends the stray dog Cain.

The Braithwaites abduct Jack and hand him to Angelo Bronte. John, Abigail and the gang recover him from Bronte's mansion in Saint Denis, and Jack returns to Shady Belle describing the toys, food and Italian words he learned there. John becomes more attentive, teaching him to make an arrowhead and playing knights with him. At Beaver Hollow, Jack is frightened by the gang's fighting and by Cain's disappearance. As the gang falls apart, Tilly Jackson takes him to Copperhead Landing to await Abigail, after Arthur sends him away.

After the gang's collapse, Jack travels with his parents and spends time in the Yukon before the family works at Pronghorn Ranch in 1907. Abigail leaves with Jack when John cannot stay clear of violence. They reunite with John at Beecher's Hope after he builds the ranch, bringing their dog Rufus. Jack goes fishing with his father and attends John and Abigail's wedding. By 1911, Bureau agents Edgar Ross and Archer Fordham seize Jack and Abigail to force John to hunt Bill Williamson, Javier Escuella and Dutch van der Linde.

Jack and Abigail return to Beecher's Hope after John completes the Bureau's demands. Jack apologizes for not keeping the ranch in order, but John reassures him and blames Uncle instead. He rides with John to MacFarlane's Ranch to buy cattle and later learns to hunt with him. After soldiers attack Beecher's Hope and kill John, Jack lives on the ranch with Abigail until her death in 1914. He tracks Ross to the San Luis River, challenges him to a duel and kills him.
