The Legendary Smallmouth Bass is a Legendary Fish in Red Dead Redemption 2, identified as Micropterus dolomieu. It is a rare smallmouth bass based on that species, distinguished in the game as a legendary catch rather than an ordinary fish. Its estimated size and weight set it apart from the usual bass encountered in the waters of West Elizabeth.
It lives in Lake Owanjila at Owanjila, near the dam. The lake lies west of Strawberry, between Big Valley and Tall Trees in West Elizabeth. Local fishermen report that the fish is more active in rain. A Special Lake Lure is used to catch it, and it can be pursued on its own rather than only during a mission.
The fish is one of the Legendary Fish available to catch. It is also sought during the Stranger quest "A Fisher of Fish," where it counts toward the task of finding the legendary catches. Once caught, it is recorded as the Legendary Smallmouth Bass in the Compendium and under "A Fisher of Fish" in the task log.
