Player notes

Abigail Roberts travels with the Van der Linde gang after the failed Blackwater ferry robbery and takes shelter at Colter. She identifies Davey Callander's death, then asks Arthur Morgan to search for John Marston in the blizzard. When Javier Escuella and Arthur bring John back, she rebukes him. Abigail has long struggled with John's refusal to act as Jack's father, and his indifference to the boy continues to anger her. At Horseshoe Overlook, she asks Arthur to take Jack fishing because he is restless around camp.

At Clemens Point, Abigail is devastated when the Braithwaites take Jack. Dutch van der Linde promises to recover him, but the gang finds no sign of the boy at Braithwaite Manor. Arthur, John and Dutch later retrieve Jack from Angelo Bronte in Saint Denis, where Abigail embraces her son and holds a celebration. John begins making an effort with Abigail and Jack. She also helps Hosea Matthews scout the Lemoyne National Bank, posing as a New England real estate investor, and escapes after their diversion during the robbery ends with Hosea's capture.

After John is arrested following the Saint Denis bank robbery, Abigail begs Dutch to save him. When he refuses, she asks Arthur and Sadie Adler to break John out, then welcomes John back after they succeed. Fearing for Jack, she searches for Dutch's hidden money so the family can leave. Agent Milton later kidnaps her during the train robbery. Arthur and Sadie find her, and Abigail frees herself during Arthur's struggle with Milton and shoots the agent with Sadie's revolver. Arthur sends Abigail and Sadie to Copperhead Landing, where she reunites with Jack and Tilly Jackson before John arrives alive.

The Marstons leave the gang and try their luck in the Yukon gold rush, then drift through northern settlements as John's actions repeatedly expose them. In 1907, Abigail, John and Jack head for Strawberry after another forced move. Abigail and Jack take work cleaning at Pronghorn Ranch while John seeks steady employment. She eventually lives with John and Jack at Beecher's Hope, where she becomes the Marston family's rancher and matriarch.

  • โ—†John and Abigail share the same first names as the second President of the United States and the second First Lady; John Adams and his wife, Abigail.
  • โ—†John and Abigail also share the same names with Arthur Miller's characters Abigail Williams and John Proctor, who have a secret relationship in 'The Crucible'.
  • โ—†Like Edgar Ross, Abigail's height seems to differ between games. In Redemption 1, John is shown to be about a head taller than her, while their height difference is not quite as significant in Redemption 2.
  • โ—†It is often joked that she is a bad cook by her family and she sarcastically tells John when he returns to Beecher's Hope not to worry as, during her abduction, she was enrolled in a cookery school.
  • โ—†A reference is made in Red Dead Redemption 2: John will mention that he misses Pearson's cooking in the epilogue.
  • โ—†In "American Venom", Abigail will tell Uncle to cook, to which John will retort that it is not a bad idea.

  • โ—†In multiplayer, she wears different clothes than in single player. In single-player, her outfit is a blue-violet top and a pink plaid long skirt; in multiplayer, her outfit is a white and blue plaid top and blue pants so the player can ride a horse. Similar changes apply to Luisa Fortuna.

  • โ—†Despite her pleas for John to change, and despite John's efforts to change himself, Abigail was ultimately correct in John's actions getting them all killed. Her final, unsuccessful attempt to stop him was to talk John out of hunting down Micah Bell. This act of revenge put Edgar Ross onto John's trail, who later forced him to kill the rest of his old gang before betraying and killing him. Abigail died a few years later, leaving Jack as the only surviving member of the family.
  • โ—†After the credits, Abigail will bug John about doing the chores on the ranch so that their new property remains in a good condition.
  • โ—†After taking Jack fishing, Arthur will write in his journal about how he thinks he should have married her (before she fell for John), and that Mary is the reason this did not occur.
  • โ—†As well as Arthur, it is implied that Bill Williamson and Javier Escuella wanted to be with Abigail and the fact that John succeeded helped to fuel the former's jealousy of John. On top of this, Micah can be seen attempting to flirt with Abigail in camp, which she is disgusted by.
  • โ—†In the epilogue, Uncle may tell Abigail that Arthur considered John a lucky man for having Abigail, resulting in her crying.
  • โ—†When Arthur is asking Abigail how she is doing, she will respond that she is not doing well. In the epilogue, when John is asking Abigail how she is doing, she will respond that she is doing well.
