Paytah

Paytah is a Wapiti man and Eagle Flies' trusted companion. As the Van der Linde gang leaves Colter, he watches them from a distance with Eagle Flies and Rains Fall. He later rides with the Wapiti party sent to reclaim the tribe's horses from the US Army. Paytah and Eagle Flies cross to the Army ship by boat, board it without being seen, then help Arthur and the others deal with the guards and drive the horses away.

He joins Eagle Flies when Dutch agrees to attack a military patrol with tar and feathers. The assault draws far more soldiers than expected, and the Wapiti fighters are overwhelmed. Eagle Flies is taken prisoner, but Paytah escapes. He next rides with Eagle Flies and other young Wapiti to Beaver Hollow, where they seek the gang's help against the oil fields despite Rains Fall's objections. They leave to strike the refinery before that help arrives.

At the refinery, Paytah leads a small group of Wapiti fighters before joining Arthur's party as it pushes through the soldiers. They free Eagle Flies and unite with Dutch's group to clear the remaining Army men. Colonel Favours mortally wounds Eagle Flies after the fighting. Paytah accompanies Arthur and Charles as they carry Eagle Flies back to the Wapiti reservation, where Rains Fall receives his son.
