Player notes

At Clemens Point, Molly O'Shea calls Arthur Morgan over to speak about Dutch. Uncle interrupts before she can say much, having learned of an apparently unguarded supply wagon. Arthur agrees to go only if Uncle accompanies him. He rides out with Uncle, Charles Smith and Bill Williamson, and the four men wait at a crossroads in Scarlett Meadows for the wagon to arrive.

They halt the wagon and learn from its drivers that it belongs to Cornwall Kerosene & Tar. Charles searches the rear while Arthur helps him take the payroll. Cornwall's guards quickly converge on them, forcing the gang to abandon the robbery and flee through the woods on horseback. They reach Compson's Stead, send their horses away and conceal themselves in the barn as night falls.

Guards search the property after a squatter in the house reports a noise near the barn. Bill knocks over a bucket as the men enter, exposing the gang. Arthur, Uncle, Charles and Bill fight their way out while a broken lantern sets the barn ablaze. In the woods, Arthur and Uncle break from Charles and Bill. Arthur saves Uncle from a guard, then they reunite with Charles and Bill, kill the remaining pursuers, divide the money and part ways in Scarlett Meadows.

Trivia

  • โ—†During the cutscene after looting the wagon, Uncle can be briefly seen without his beard in one shot. This is a glitch, as he is meant to be wearing his bandana in that scene.
  • โ—†While being chased by Cornwall's private guard, it is possible to steal one of their horses; the Seal Brown Dutch Warmblood and the Piebald Tobiano Hungarian Half-bred are among them.
  • โ—†These horses can also be stolen towards the end of the mission when helping Bill and Charles. Wait until Cornwall's men appear with the horses then kill one of them, jump on the horse and stay on until the mission ends. The horse afterwards will stay on the log instead of running away and disappearing.
  • โ—†The property that the four gang members hide is a barn on Compson's Stead. However, the house appears to be occupied during this mission, despite it being empty and abandoned the rest of the time. With subtitles with names turned on, the person in the house is revealed to be a squatter, hence his reluctance to cooperate with Cornwall's men when asked if he'd seen anything.
  • โ—†That same squatter appears again in the stranger mission "The Iniquities of History".
  • โ—†If the player alerts the guard in the barn before Bill does, Bill will criticize Arthur's actions during the firefight.
  • โ—†If the player does not climb out of the barn to escape, they will eventually burn to death, failing the mission.
  • โ—†Even if the player fails to be sneaky when Arthur and Uncle must take out the two guards stealthily, Uncle will still comment that Bill and Charles "weren't so lucky" as if Arthur and Uncle were successful.
  • โ—†If Arthur doesn't save Uncle from the guard after the failed stealth kill, Uncle will scold him for it.
  • โ—†If the player is spotted near the dead guards after the mission, they will get a "Wanted" status.
  • โ—†The voice line where Uncle says, "Woah. Let-let-let's hide in hereโ€ฆ quick." was actually voiced by his original voice actor, John O'Creagh.
