Player notes

Arthur returns from Guarma aboard a boat with Dutch van der Linde and the others who survived the crossing. As they near the mainland opposite Van Horn Trading Post, Dutch tells Arthur to go to Shady Belle and learn what has become of the gang. Arthur reaches shore, takes a Hungarian Half-bred from the street, and rides alone across Lemoyne toward their former camp.

At Shady Belle, Arthur dismounts and enters the abandoned house. In a ground-floor room, he finds a letter addressed to "Uncle Tacitus" and signed by "Caroline," the name Sadie Adler uses to conceal her identity. Sadie tells him that the gang has left Shady Belle and is waiting at Lakay, a small settlement in the swamps north of Saint Denis.

Pinkerton agents arrive at Shady Belle looking for the same trace of the Van der Linde gang. Arthur gets out of the house, either avoiding the agents or fighting through them, then takes a horse from the grounds. He follows Sadie's directions through Bayou Nwa and reaches Lakay, where the rest of the gang is hiding.

Trivia

  • โ—†The player can skip most of this mission by heading straight for Lakay instead of going to Shady Belle.
  • โ—†It is possible to save the Guarma outfit after the mission. The player must head to the general store during the mission, buy any hat and save it as a "custom outfit" along with the attire.
  • โ—†The song that plays in the background while Arthur is riding back to Shady Belle is an extended version of "Unshaken" by D'Angelo. The original version can be heard in The Music of Red Dead Redemption 2: Original Soundtrack.
  • โ—†If the player heads to the Old Light Saloon, the missing person poster of Isabeau Katharina Zinsmeister posted outside of it will be replaced with the bounty poster for Benedict Allbright. This is one of the only times in the game when Allbright's poster can be observed on a wall, outside of his bounty hunting mission.
  • โ—†If Arthur waits long enough and doesn't read Sadie's letter, one of the Pinkerton agents can be seen and heard reading it.
  • โ—†Once Arthur returns from Guarma he will look underweight whether he has average or perfect weight. His eyes will also look red and have bags on them, indicating his future illness.
  • โ—†Arthur will have around $450 in his possession after returning from Guarma.
  • โ—†If the player wishes, they can steal one of the Pinkertons' horses to leave Shady Belle instead of their Hungarian Half-bred.
