Sadie Adler
John meets Sadie in Blackwater. Sadie asks John to help her recover a bounty named Shane Finley who was taken from her by a professional rival, James Langton.

John Marston retrouve Sadie Adler au Blackwater Saloon et lui demande si elle a du travail pour lui. Sadie explique que James Langton, un chasseur de primes rival, lui a pris Shane Finley avant qu'elle puisse le livrer. Elle compte reprendre Finley, et John accepte de l'accompagner. En route vers le sud à travers Hennigan's Stead, John propose à Sadie de s'installer à Beecher's Hope. Ils parlent aussi de Dutch van der Linde, mais aucun des deux n'a eu de ses nouvelles.
Sadie guide John jusqu'à Pike's Basin, où ils observent le groupe de Langton depuis le rebord. Après avoir suivi le groupe au fond du bassin, Sadie et John se rapprochent de Finley et de ses ravisseurs. Leur approche peut commencer discrètement ou ouvertement, mais les hommes de Langton ripostent. John et Sadie tuent Langton et son gang, puis emmènent Finley, toujours captif, hors du camp et le chargent sur le cheval de Sadie.
Les hommes survivants de Langton attaquent tandis que Sadie et John quittent Pike's Basin avec Finley. Le duo repousse leurs poursuivants et retourne à Blackwater. Au Blackwater Police Department, Sadie dit au Police Chief Oswald Dunbar que Langton a tenté de la voler et qu'il est mort en essayant. Finley est remis aux autorités, et Sadie partage la récompense avec John.
Anecdotes
- ◆Despite the entire map of New Austin being accessible during the Epilogue chapters, this is the only story mission to take place within it. Canonically, John is not meant to be too familiar with the state before the events of Red Dead Redemption.
- ◆Further reinforcing the idea that John Marston is canonically unfamiliar with the area, is Sadie's avoidance of mentioning the state by name, only referring to New Austin as "the desert down south." Additionally, when John asks where they're heading before departing the dinner, Sadie never directly answers his question throughout the entire ride. This would make John even more ignorant of where they are by the time they get there.
- ◆However, in the mission "A Quick Favor for an Old Friend" when Sadie mentions Ramón Cortez, she says that an encounter with the Del Lobo Gang, the group Cortez belongs to, in New Austin, a place they had visited before, is inevitable. This dialogue suggests that John has little knowledge of New Austin.
- ◆Shane Finley can also be brought in dead; Police Chief Oswald Dunbar will express his disappointment that he won’t see Finley hang, and seems to pay only $300, as the player receives only $150.
- ◆Even if John hasn't done any bounties prior to this mission, he will still tell Sadie that he has done some bounty work of his own. It is possible that he did so in the eight-year gap between Chapter 6 and the Epilogue.
- ◆This mission foreshadows the mission "Justice in Pike's Basin" from the original game, which has a similar setup of John scaling down Pike's Basin while gunning down multiple enemies.
