Der Canis Crusader ist ein viertüriger Militär-SUV auf Basis des Mesa. Er trägt Wüstentarnung und Militärsterne sowie robuste Stoßfänger, Haken, schwarze Radläufe und ein Softtop, das gewöhnlich Fahrerkabine und hinteres Abteil bedeckt. Manche Exemplare sind dachlos. Er hat weder Embleme noch Kennzeichen, und seine schwarzen Räder entsprechen denen des zivilen Mesa. Beim Einsteigen erhält man ein Carbine Rifle.
In Grand Theft Auto V erscheinen Crusaders in Fort Zancudo und können Eindringlinge auch über das Gelände hinaus verfolgen, bevor die normale Polizei übernimmt. Trevor kann zudem einen aus seinem vierten Rampage behalten, einschließlich einer dachlosen Version, falls sie überlebt. Warstock Cache & Carry verkauft ihn für $225,000 und liefert ihn zum Hangar des Käufers. In Grand Theft Auto Online erscheint er in Fort Zancudo und dessen Umgebung, während Warstock Cache & Carry ihn zum gleichen Preis verkauft.
Beschleunigung und Höchstgeschwindigkeit sind für seine Klasse durchschnittlich, und er ist etwas langsamer als der Mesa, fährt sich jedoch besser und hält schwerem Beschuss sowie wiederholten Unfällen stand. Übersteuern bei hohem Tempo und sein hoher Schwerpunkt können ihn auf unebenem Gelände schwer beherrschbar machen. Los Santos Customs kann ihn reparieren, aber nicht modifizieren. Online-Versionen können Sprengstoff transportieren, und SUV-Rennen erlauben eine begrenzte Neulackierung. Das Militär nutzt Crusaders in The Paleto Score und Rampage: Military, während sie in Online bei Gunrunning-Nachschubdiebstählen, Survivals, The Superdollar Deal und The Brute Force File zum Einsatz kommen.

- ◆The Crusader is the second military SUV in the whole Grand Theft Auto series. The first is the 3D Universe military-orientated Patriot.
- ◆There was a bug that prevents the Crusader from appearing in the player's hangar after purchasing it from Warstock Cache & Carry. If the character owns any aircraft, the Crusader will not appear in the vehicle roster. This has since been patched.
- ◆In the beta version of the game, the Crusader was the only vehicle in the Cargo Plane in the mission Minor Turbulence (as it was seen in the second trailer), but was replaced with the off-road Mesa.
- ◆Unlike the Barracks and the Barracks Semi, the Crusader features a mark on the cargo compartment that reads "Los Santos National Forces". However, like the mentioned trucks, the marks are mirrored on the right side.
- ◆Although Crusaders are available only in a desert camouflage, those that are obtained from Fort Zancudo will spawn in white. However, those that are purchased from the website will come with an applied color on the inner trimmings, usually a red color.
- ◆In the original version, the Crusader could be stored inside any of the purchasable garages for each protagonist. However, in the enhanced version, it is no longer possible, as the car can be already stored in a hangar when purchased.
- ◆The Crusader is classed as an SUV during Grand Theft Auto Online races, making it playable alongside other SUV vehicles.
- ◆As the vehicle is classed as an SUV-class vehicle during races, the player is able to recolor the vehicle. Since the vehicle is plastered with a livery, the color changes only affect the engine bay, and the trimmings around the doors and rear compartment.
