O Canis Crusader é um SUV militar de quatro portas baseado no Mesa. Ele traz camuflagem desértica e estrelas militares, além de para-choques utilitários, ganchos, para-lamas pretos e uma capota macia que normalmente cobre a cabine e o compartimento traseiro. Algumas unidades não têm capota. Não há emblemas nem placas, e as rodas pretas são as mesmas do Mesa civil. Entrar em um Crusader concede uma Carbine Rifle.
Em Grand Theft Auto V, Crusaders aparecem em Fort Zancudo e podem perseguir invasores para fora da base até a polícia comum assumir a perseguição. Trevor também pode ficar com um após seu quarto Rampage, inclusive uma versão sem capota caso ela sobreviva. A Warstock Cache & Carry o vende por $225,000 e o entrega no hangar do comprador. Em Grand Theft Auto Online, ele surge em Fort Zancudo e nos arredores, e custa o mesmo valor na Warstock Cache & Carry.
A aceleração e a velocidade final são comuns para a classe, e ele é um pouco mais lento que o Mesa, mas tem dirigibilidade melhor e resiste a muito fogo inimigo e a colisões repetidas. O sobresterço em alta velocidade e o centro de gravidade elevado dificultam o uso em terreno irregular. A Los Santos Customs pode repará-lo, mas não modificá-lo. No Online, ele pode levar explosivos e receber recoloração limitada em corridas de SUV. Os militares o usam em The Paleto Score e Rampage: Military, e ele também aparece em roubos de suprimentos de Gunrunning, Survivals, The Superdollar Deal e The Brute Force File.
Curiosidades
- ◆The Crusader is the second military SUV in the whole Grand Theft Auto series. The first is the 3D Universe military-orientated Patriot.
- ◆There was a bug that prevents the Crusader from appearing in the player's hangar after purchasing it from Warstock Cache & Carry. If the character owns any aircraft, the Crusader will not appear in the vehicle roster. This has since been patched.
- ◆In the beta version of the game, the Crusader was the only vehicle in the Cargo Plane in the mission Minor Turbulence (as it was seen in the second trailer), but was replaced with the off-road Mesa.
- ◆Unlike the Barracks and the Barracks Semi, the Crusader features a mark on the cargo compartment that reads "Los Santos National Forces". However, like the mentioned trucks, the marks are mirrored on the right side.
- ◆Although Crusaders are available only in a desert camouflage, those that are obtained from Fort Zancudo will spawn in white. However, those that are purchased from the website will come with an applied color on the inner trimmings, usually a red color.
- ◆In the original version, the Crusader could be stored inside any of the purchasable garages for each protagonist. However, in the enhanced version, it is no longer possible, as the car can be already stored in a hangar when purchased.
- ◆The Crusader is classed as an SUV during Grand Theft Auto Online races, making it playable alongside other SUV vehicles.
- ◆As the vehicle is classed as an SUV-class vehicle during races, the player is able to recolor the vehicle. Since the vehicle is plastered with a livery, the color changes only affect the engine bay, and the trimmings around the doors and rear compartment.
