El Canis Crusader es un SUV militar de cuatro puertas basado en el Mesa. Lleva camuflaje desértico y estrellas militares, además de parachoques utilitarios, ganchos, pasos de rueda negros y una capota blanda que normalmente cubre la cabina y el compartimento trasero. Algunas unidades no llevan capota. Carece de emblemas y matrícula, y sus ruedas negras son las mismas del Mesa civil. Al entrar en uno se obtiene un Carbine Rifle.
En Grand Theft Auto V, los Crusader aparecen en Fort Zancudo y pueden perseguir a los intrusos fuera de la base hasta que la policía normal releva a los militares. Trevor también puede conservar uno de su cuarto Rampage, incluida una versión sin capota si sobrevive. Warstock Cache & Carry lo vende por $225,000 y lo entrega en el hangar del comprador. En Grand Theft Auto Online, aparece en Fort Zancudo y sus alrededores, y Warstock Cache & Carry lo vende por el mismo precio.
Su aceleración y velocidad punta son corrientes dentro de su clase, y es algo más lento que el Mesa, pero gira mejor y soporta mucho fuego y choques repetidos. El sobreviraje a velocidad alta y su centro de gravedad elevado pueden complicarlo en terreno irregular. Los Santos Customs puede repararlo, pero no modificarlo. En Online puede llevar explosivos y recibir un cambio de color limitado en carreras de SUV. Los militares usan Crusader durante The Paleto Score y Rampage: Military, y también aparece en robos de suministros de Gunrunning, Survivals, The Superdollar Deal y The Brute Force File.

- ◆The Crusader is the second military SUV in the whole Grand Theft Auto series. The first is the 3D Universe military-orientated Patriot.
- ◆There was a bug that prevents the Crusader from appearing in the player's hangar after purchasing it from Warstock Cache & Carry. If the character owns any aircraft, the Crusader will not appear in the vehicle roster. This has since been patched.
- ◆In the beta version of the game, the Crusader was the only vehicle in the Cargo Plane in the mission Minor Turbulence (as it was seen in the second trailer), but was replaced with the off-road Mesa.
- ◆Unlike the Barracks and the Barracks Semi, the Crusader features a mark on the cargo compartment that reads "Los Santos National Forces". However, like the mentioned trucks, the marks are mirrored on the right side.
- ◆Although Crusaders are available only in a desert camouflage, those that are obtained from Fort Zancudo will spawn in white. However, those that are purchased from the website will come with an applied color on the inner trimmings, usually a red color.
- ◆In the original version, the Crusader could be stored inside any of the purchasable garages for each protagonist. However, in the enhanced version, it is no longer possible, as the car can be already stored in a hangar when purchased.
- ◆The Crusader is classed as an SUV during Grand Theft Auto Online races, making it playable alongside other SUV vehicles.
- ◆As the vehicle is classed as an SUV-class vehicle during races, the player is able to recolor the vehicle. Since the vehicle is plastered with a livery, the color changes only affect the engine bay, and the trimmings around the doors and rear compartment.
