Canis Crusader to czterodrzwiowy wojskowy SUV oparty na Mesie. Ma pustynny kamuflaż i wojskowe gwiazdy, a także użytkowe zderzaki, haki, czarne nadkola oraz miękki dach, który zwykle osłania kabinę i tylny przedział. Niektóre egzemplarze są pozbawione dachu. Auto nie ma oznaczeń ani tablic rejestracyjnych, a jego czarne koła pochodzą z cywilnego Mesa. Wejście do Crusadera daje Carbine Rifle.
W Grand Theft Auto V Crusadery pojawiają się w Fort Zancudo i mogą ścigać intruzów poza bazę, zanim pościg przejmie zwykła policja. Trevor może też zatrzymać jeden po swoim czwartym Rampage, w tym wersję bez dachu, jeśli nie zostanie zniszczona. Warstock Cache & Carry sprzedaje go za $225,000 i dostarcza do hangaru kupującego. W Grand Theft Auto Online pojawia się w Fort Zancudo i na jego obrzeżach, a Warstock Cache & Carry oferuje go za tę samą cenę.
Przyspieszenie i prędkość maksymalna są przeciętne w tej klasie, a Crusader jest nieco wolniejszy od Mesy, lecz lepiej się prowadzi i wytrzymuje silny ostrzał oraz wielokrotne zderzenia. Nadsterowność przy większej prędkości i wysoko położony środek ciężkości mogą sprawiać kłopoty na nierównym terenie. Los Santos Customs może go naprawić, ale nie zmodyfikować. W Online może przewozić materiały wybuchowe i otrzymać ograniczoną zmianę koloru w wyścigach SUV-ów. Wojsko używa go w The Paleto Score i Rampage: Military. Pojawia się też w kradzieżach zaopatrzenia Gunrunning, Survivals, The Superdollar Deal oraz The Brute Force File.
Ciekawostki
- ◆The Crusader is the second military SUV in the whole Grand Theft Auto series. The first is the 3D Universe military-orientated Patriot.
- ◆There was a bug that prevents the Crusader from appearing in the player's hangar after purchasing it from Warstock Cache & Carry. If the character owns any aircraft, the Crusader will not appear in the vehicle roster. This has since been patched.
- ◆In the beta version of the game, the Crusader was the only vehicle in the Cargo Plane in the mission Minor Turbulence (as it was seen in the second trailer), but was replaced with the off-road Mesa.
- ◆Unlike the Barracks and the Barracks Semi, the Crusader features a mark on the cargo compartment that reads "Los Santos National Forces". However, like the mentioned trucks, the marks are mirrored on the right side.
- ◆Although Crusaders are available only in a desert camouflage, those that are obtained from Fort Zancudo will spawn in white. However, those that are purchased from the website will come with an applied color on the inner trimmings, usually a red color.
- ◆In the original version, the Crusader could be stored inside any of the purchasable garages for each protagonist. However, in the enhanced version, it is no longer possible, as the car can be already stored in a hangar when purchased.
- ◆The Crusader is classed as an SUV during Grand Theft Auto Online races, making it playable alongside other SUV vehicles.
- ◆As the vehicle is classed as an SUV-class vehicle during races, the player is able to recolor the vehicle. Since the vehicle is plastered with a livery, the color changes only affect the engine bay, and the trimmings around the doors and rear compartment.
