Player notes

Michael De Santa visits Lester Crest at his house in El Burro Heights after incurring Martin Madrazo's debt. Lester agrees to help with Michael's need for work, but an alert concerning Lifeinvader founder Jay Norris changes the conversation. Angered by Norris, Lester hands Michael a backpack containing an explosive device. He tells Michael to buy youthful clothes at the Suburban on Hawick Avenue, then contact him for instructions.

Michael changes into a suitable outfit and calls Lester, who directs him to the Lifeinvader Office in Rockford Hills. At the rear entrance, Michael waits for a programmer leaving for a cigarette and follows him inside after being mistaken for technical support. The programmer asks Michael to clear intrusive popups from his computer and run antivirus software. Once the computer is fixed, he points Michael toward the demo room, where Michael plants Lester's device inside Lifeinvader's prototype phone.

Outside, Michael tells Lester that the prototype has been rigged and drives to the De Santa Residence in Rockford Hills. He takes over the television from Tracey and watches Jay Norris present the phone during a live keynote. When Norris holds the device up, Michael calls it. Norris answers, and the phone explodes, killing him onstage as the broadcast cuts out. Michael calls Lester, who says the attack has made him money and agrees to help him.

Trivia

  • โ—†The mission name is a reference to the act of sending someone a friend request on Facebook, of which Lifeinvader is a parody, and Lester's request to Michael asking him to perform a favour.
  • โ—†Some of the pop-ups play ringtones from GTA IV, as "Lesbians", "The One for Me" and "Hooker" can be heard if one listens carefully.
  • โ—†The air guitar dance done by Rickie after Michael removes the pop-ups is a reference to the "Duckwalk" dance, popularized by the likes of Chuck Berry and Angus Young.
  • โ—†The phone bomb may be a reference to the 2009 crime thriller Law Abiding Citizen, where Clyde Sheldon assassinates a judge with a rigged cell phone bomb.
  • โ—†The events of the mission Repossession occur during the same in-game week as this one, according to an internet article after the Repossession mission.
  • โ—†The scene where Michael shows the middle fingers to Lester's security camera can be seen on Lester's artwork from GTA Online.
  • โ—†Among the pop-up ads, the player can see adverts for Brucie Kibbutz's Bull Shark Testosterone, and an online poker game called Poker in the Rear (poke her in the rear, another example of Rockstar Games' sexual humour).
  • โ—†While the anti-virus is scanning the computer, an Epsilon Program file appears very quickly. The anti-virus also shows Lifeinvader.exe as a virus.
  • โ—†The scene of Michael taking the TV remote from Tracey was used in Michael's character trailer. In the trailer, Tracey wore silver pants; in the game she wears purple pants.
  • โ—†If Michael waits until night-time and then goes into his house to watch the "live" broadcast, Jay Norris would still be seen making the speech in broad daylight.
  • โ—†Should Michael fail to call Norris during the press conference, he will comment that somebody was supposed to call him and storms off, breaking the prototype by throwing it at the stage. This will still fail the mission.
  • โ—†The keynote is held at the Vinewood Bowl, the only time in the game an event takes place there not counting the Fame or Shame broadcasts.
  • โ—†This mission technically counts as one of Lester's assassinations, as it helps Lester manipulate the stock market. However, Lifeinvader's stock will never recover after completion of this mission. This does not happen in the other assassination missions, as affected stocks eventually rebound.
