Player notes

Michael arrives at Ponsonbys on Portola Drive and changes into a tuxedo for the premiere of Meltdown. Jimmy pulls up outside in a limousine, and Michael joins him for the ride to the Oriental Theater on Vinewood Boulevard. Devin Weston calls on the way, blaming Michael for Molly Schultz's death. Michael denies killing her and calls it an accident, but Devin makes clear that he has not let the matter go.

At the theater, Michael and Jimmy step onto the red carpet as Lazlow hosts the premiere broadcast. Solomon Richards greets Michael and celebrates the film's opening with him before heading inside. Michael notices that Amanda and Tracey have not arrived. Devin appears, implies that Merryweather has been sent after Michael's family, then enters the theater. Michael and Jimmy immediately leave for the De Santa Residence in Rockford Hills.

Michael finds Merryweather agents at the house. Inside, he shoots the man threatening Amanda, then goes upstairs and saves Tracey from another hostage taker. More agents move through the residence and around its grounds, and Michael clears them out. When he returns to Amanda and Tracey, an agent attacks him. Jimmy comes to Michael's aid, striking the man with a bong. Michael tells his family to lie low while he makes calls.

Trivia

  • โ—†The mission was originally going to be called "Movie Premiere".
  • โ—†If the player chooses to kill Michael, this will be the final appearance of Amanda and Tracey.
  • โ—†At the end of the mission, Jimmy makes a reference to modern FPS games. The camera changes to his perspective (first-person view), he enables night vision by using night vision goggles, brings both of his hands in front of him and, using his bong like a melee weapon, takes down the mercenary and then teabags Michael by accident.
  • โ—†If the player does not have enough money to buy the tuxedo, he will ask the clerk to "put it on his tab", claiming that he will pay by next month.
  • โ—†This mission is the second-last opportunity (the final one if Deathwish is not chosen as the ending) for the player to keep the off-road Mesa. At the end of the mission, when two Mesas pull up in front of the house, the player can kill the agents and park a Mesa (even both) in Michael's garage before going back upstairs to complete the mission. The Vacca used to drive to the house can also be obtained at this point in the mission and stored for future use.
  • โ—†This mission bears a resemblance to the intro of , as both games feature the protagonist coming back home to find their homes overrun by mercenaries. Both have their respective wife and daughter inside the house, and both use bullet-time to fend off their attackers. However, unlike , Michael knew about mercenaries trying to kill both Amanda and Tracey at their house before arriving and he earns his victory with his family unscathed.
  • โ—†This mission is also a reference to the Splinter Cell series with the iconic tri-focal goggles, as well as the night vision sound heard when the goggles are equipped.
  • โ—†The song that plays on the radio in the limo is "Hood Gone Love It" by Jay Rock ft. Kendrick Lamar. The song can also be heard on Radio Los Santos, and in Franklin's trailer.
  • โ—†It is possible that Franklin was originally supposed to attend the premiere, as he also unlocks a tuxedo after this mission yet with no explanation as to why. Jimmy also messages him prior to the mission to inform him of the premiere and tells him Michael will be getting a tuxedo, making this more likely.
  • โ—†The Stretch used in this mission has a special license plate, "VIN3W88D".
  • โ—†Sometimes, if the player switches to Trevor directly after this mission ends, Michael can be found outside Trevor's trailer sitting in a green armchair due to a bug.
  • โ—†In the enhanced version, fireworks can be seen in the sky during the premiere.
  • โ—†This mission is mentioned by Michael in the A Safehouse in the Hills update mission Home Sweet Home, as Michael says to the "this isn't my first time on the wrong end of a home invasion, but this?".
