Benson (HD Universe)

The Vapid Benson is a two-seat Commercial box truck in Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online. It retains the long-bodied form of its GTA IV counterpart, but is used chiefly as a moving truck rather than a bottler vehicle. Its rear has a bottom-hinged ramp door in place of the earlier trolley and loading bay. A heavy-duty push bar, borrowed from the Hauler, sits at the front, and the truck has a new grille, marker lights and a single overall paint colour.

Bensons commonly appear in Burton and Alta, and also turn up on highways around Murrieta Heights and near Elysian Island. They can appear within Elysian Island itself. The truck is part of the TRUCKS_DELIVERY traffic set, so it is often seen entering or leaving alleyways and parking areas. It appears in Franklin and Lamar as a roadblock that sends Franklin and Lamar through a back-street parking area. A white unmarked example may serve as an alcohol delivery van in Property Management: Pitchers.

The Benson improves on its GTA IV performance, with better speed, though its acceleration remains weak. Its low gearing requires several shifts before it gathers much pace, which limits it in a chase. It remains a heavy, durable truck that absorbs gunfire well and can force other vehicles aside. Lowering the rear door allows cars and motorcycles to be loaded inside, but they can become trapped, explode or unexpectedly slide back out. Trevor can hear CB radio chatter in Blaine County, even with the main radio off.
