About this vehicle
The Rhino Tank is a two-seat tracked military battle tank in Grand Theft Auto V. It returns as a modern light tank with its engine mounted at the rear, a wide hull, continuous tracks and a beige desert-camouflage finish. Its form draws chiefly from the German Leopard 2, particularly the turret, while the front follows the South African Olifant. Details of the hull, lights and engine deck also take cues from other modern tanks.
A 120 mm cannon gives the Rhino its destructive role. Its explosive shells can destroy unarmoured vehicles in one hit, and the tank's armour lets it absorb substantial punishment, although heavy explosives can still damage it. The tracks give it respectable turning for a vehicle of its size and strong off-road traction. It can roll over smaller vehicles and shove larger ones aside, but may catch on solid obstacles. The turret-mounted machine gun cannot be used.
Rhino Tanks patrol inside Fort Zancudo in the western part of the map, where they can be taken from the base. In GTA Online, the tank becomes available for purchase through the in-game internet after rank 70, for 10,000. The game uses the Rhino as Fort Zancudo's armoured military vehicle and as a player-operated tank for destroying vehicles and confronting armed opposition.

- โThe Rhino may have gotten its name from a World War II era German tank destroyer, the Nashorn, the name being German for 'rhinoceros'.
- โMoreover, "Rhino tank" is a nickname for Allied tanks equipped with hedgerow cutting devices in 1944.
- โLeftovers of Rockstar North's Agent found in the handling files of (under "Jimmy vehicles" section) reveal that the vehicle was originally meant to appear in Agent.
- โThe stated 1500 horsepower turbine engine is likely a reference to the Honeywell AGT1500 turbine engine which also pushes 1500 horsepower, found in the M1 Abrams tanks.
- โThe tank shells fired by the Rhino Tank reuse the projectile model of the RPG.
- โDespite being a one-seater, the Rhino Tank actually has two seats, as defined in the game, but the passenger seat is inaccessible. The seat, however, does not allow the player to control anything or fire from the vehicle.
- โWhen a Rhino Tank explodes, the normally unopenable hatch next to the gunner seat (which is also unopenable) will be blown off, which reveals a metal pole inside (possibly a ladder).
- โThere is a wrecked Rhino, along with several other wrecks, scattered directly east of Humane Labs and Research. This one is much larger than the drivable model (much like the Barracks Semi one, also much larger than the drivable version). Also, the hull hatch is basically a duplicate of the turret hatch (as it still features the gun mounting on it), as well as the left cabin from the drivable version.
