About this vehicle
The Truffade Z-Type is a two-seat Sports Classics grand tourer, presented as a 1930s two-door coupé. Its long bonnet, rounded body and swollen fenders frame a chrome grille with circular lamps, while the curved tail carries another pair of round lights and a spare wheel compartment. Wood panels, leather-trimmed doors and a steel-faced gauge cluster furnish the cabin. Its styling draws on several period luxury cars, and only ten are said to have been built.
A front-mid-mounted V12, four-speed transmission and rear-wheel drive give the Z-Type exceptional straight-line pace. It is the fastest Sports Classics vehicle and was the fastest car available at Grand Theft Auto V's launch, edging out the Monroe and Adder. It accelerates smoothly and can thread through light traffic, but the soft suspension and uneven weight balance make fast corners difficult. The rear can break away abruptly, and recovering from oversteer is hard, leaving it ill suited to Sports Classics races.
In Grand Theft Auto V, Legendary Motorsport sells the Z-Type for $10,000,000. A copy can also be taken from Eye in the Sky and retained after being left at 3671 Whispymound Drive, then recovered from the LSPD Auto Impound for $250. It appears in Eye in the Sky and Pack Man. In Grand Theft Auto Online, Legendary Motorsport lists it for $950,000, and modified examples can be sourced for Vehicle Cargo work or requested through Exotic Exports.
Trivia
- ◆A Zaibatsu member can be seen driving the Z-Type in the introduction scene at the Residential District, to run over a Redneck member. The player can pick up the pistol from Scientists gang member corpse and shoot the Redneck - only if Police Officer is out of sight. Then he has to go west in order to check if the Z-Type is still parked and collect it. In the Dreamcast port, this Z-Type is given a unique gold paintjob.
- ◆A part of the Legendary Motorsport description of the Z-Type, "the Z-Type is a car you can really enjoy sitting in, surrounded by armed guards, too terrified to actually drive it anywhere", may be a reference to the armed Zaibatsu Corporation operatives (a.k.a. the Z-Men) from Grand Theft Auto 2.
- ◆This vehicle may spawn with a horn that is only present on a select few vehicles, the others being the Överflöd Entity XF, Grotti Cheetah, Dewbauchee JB 700, Enus Stafford and the Enus Paragon R (Armored).
- ◆The Z-Type is one of the oldest cars in Grand Theft Auto V, along with the Hotknife, Duneloader, Rat-Loader, Roosevelt and the old Tractor.
- ◆If given the right paint job (and possibly the right crew emblem) from Los Santos Customs, it will resemble the Zaibatsu Z-Type from GTA 2.
